I like Penny, but only as a nickname. Can anyone think of a name Penny could be a nickname for other than Penelope? I'm not coming up w/ anything.

Also, WDYT of Cordelia Joyce and Adele Coraline as a sibset? They're my top names right now and I'm wondering what people think of the names together. Joyce is after my aunt and the others are just names I like.

Thanks for the help! :)

I don't see Penny being a nickname for Persephone...

I think Persephone would be great, actually.

I like Cordelia Joyce and Adele Coraline as a sibset a lot. I prefer the name Coraline to Adele but I can see how Cordelia and Coraline wouldn't work as a sibset with those first names being so similar. Cordelia and Adele sound good together.

Kind of far off, but my name is Jennifer, and my nickname was always Jenny Penny.

Might seem way out there, but what about Esperanza, spanish for Hope.

I'm reminded of the show Good Times, in which Penny was really named Millicent: cent = penny.

Millicent is actually what I was going to suggest too.

If you want to go a really hard-core Puritan route, Penny could be short for Penitence. I've also heard of the name Penella.

I think Cordelia is gorgeous. Joyce sounds like an aunt's name, which is appropriate enough. :) It's okay as a middle. Adele is not a favorite name of mine, but it's not awful, and it does fit well with Cordelia-- the same old-fashioned, slightly French flavor. I think Coraline is very pretty, too, but I guess it's too similar to Cordelia to use both as first names. Out of curiosity, do you plan to pronounce it Cor-a-leen or or Cor-a-lyne?

Have a friend who uses Penny but real name is Pinnella.

Cordelia is one of my favorite names (it's really growing in popularity but that's one of those names I won't give up, even if it's #1 by the time I have a little girl) but I don't know if I like it with Joyce. I really like Adele Coraline, though, and Adele and Cordelia are a pretty sibset.

My first thought was, can you have Pennilyn(n)? [Pennilin? Pennylin? *sounds like the cough medicine Benylin*, Pennylynn?], but, then I got to thinking about Penny Lane by the Beetles and then thought, ok, maybe not. Maybe Penny-Lynn works better anyway. If you like or avoid all Beetles references. I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't make names up.

Anyway, what's wrong with just Penny?
