Totally legit. I believe it is a fairly common Israeli name as well. One of my professors has a daughter named Avia and I've always liked it. :)

One time, it must have been the summer of 2002, I was out in California for a wedding. My family rented a big hotel room and after the festivities (but days before the wedding), we crashed.

Just before we all thought "Oh, gee, I'm tired enough to go to sleep," and we were all lying in our beds, we heard a muttering from my fourteen year old brother's bed.

"Um, what did you say, Adam?"

"LAH-bia."

"LAH-bia?"

The next two hours, my family just lay there...repeating the word LAH-bia. It was epic.

I'm very jealous that you're australian. I told my fiance that I refuse to die until I go to Australia. Of course I'm not really thinking about dying any time soon, either, but I'm sure you know what I mean. :)

Hahaha really? There are some very beautiful and lots of untouched places in Australia but for the most part it's just like any other place. Ugly industrial areas near cities etc. Plus we're in mega drought so most of Australia would look dead and yellow to people that aren't from here. Sorry to spoil your idealised view!

Despite the fact that the name of the song is "Adia," I think if I knew someone by the name of Avia, I'd find myself singing, "Avia, I thought that we could make iiiiit," when we, say, just missed a green light in traffic.

Not that that diminishes the name, that's just me being stupid. In itself, Avia's very pretty, though not my style.
