[identity profile] schexyschteve.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
This girl who lives down the street from me (we used to be best friends in elem. school) is pregnant with a boy.  She'll be 21 when the baby is born.  Her name is Autumn Dawn, the baby's father's name is Tony (short for Anthony, I'm assuming).

They plan to name the baby Riker Sky Linn. (Linn could be the last name, idk.)

THERE SHOULD BE LAWS. Naming your child after a PRISON is never a good idea.

Damn, I was going to name my firstborn Alcatraz.

Ugh, that name is so ugly. All of it. If Sky and Linn are names at all, they're girl names to me. And yeah, Riker is a prison. Any pregnant 20 year old should get a naming lesson as well as a parenting lesson. Though you could say the same about older women as well.

Totally agree. Perhaps the first lesson in the class should be what horrible things not to name your baby after. :P

Seriously, a prison? Nice.

If I didn't live in NJ and know the implications of the name, Camden would be kind of cute.

Agreed. I live in Maine and a kid down the street from me is named Camden. I've never even thought about NJ in relation to him.

AGREED. And due to the popularity of Law & Order, L&O: CI, and L&O: SVU, it's not out of the realm of possibility that the average person would recognize the name.

Holy crap, I know of an existing baby named Riker. I've also heard of Stryker.

Please, please, don't let this be the new Cayden/Brayden/Braelyn. Oh God, it's happening, isn't it?

Ah, probably shouldn't joke about this one - I found a baby boy (I think it was early this year or last year) in the birth notices. Last name Picard. Given names: Jean-Luc Hector Silvestre.

I kid you not. It has been done. I cut the announcement out, it's around somewhere...

My cat's name is Riker, after the guy on Star Trek haha. She was the first kitten born, so my friend kept calling her Number One.

Well, before I read the comments I was just going to say that the name is ugly, but now I can also say that it's trashy! Way to go!

Not my cup of tea but there's worse, and I'm more inclined to believe they're sci-fi geeks. I thought Riker from Star Trek, and Sky could be from Luke Skywalker.
