[identity profile] turtle-dove-1.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My cousin just had her baby. Lainey Jean. Yes, Lainey is the full first name. It can be short for other names, but it is also a name unto itself. I checked ;) Anyway, i think it's pretty cute. She's only the ...6th or 7th female in our family to have some form of Jean in her name.

Lainey is cute. Don't like Jean at all.

My fiance and I had a discussion about the name Jean last night. Neither of us are fans of it at all, but I do like Lainey.

I'm not really a fan of Lainey, but I do like Jean--in other words, the exact opposite of what the previous 2 people said, haha.

Lainey's not that bad, it's just not my style.

I like it spelled Laney, but only as a nickname for something (eg, Elaine). It won't age well. Jean I really like.

I'd prefer Laine or Elaine as the first name, with Lainey as a nickname. I think the name has a nice flow, though.

I knew a Lainie once; I think I like that spelling best. Overall, not too bad. Congrats to your cousin. :)
