I know how that goes. If I ever have kids, I don't think I could ever name them anything that was really popular. Heck, one name I can't even use in stories is Dan because I have 1 uncle, 3 cousins, 1 friend and a former friend with that name.

If I were naming a kid that, I probably would go with the traditional spelling, but for looking at/using as character names, I go for the "creative" spellings. I had a roommate named Amy who went by Amie to her friends.

Haha! Yeah, I think part of my problem is that if I hear a name enough times I start to like/if I associate a name with someone I like, I feel like if I don't like the name it's an insult to them, plus I'm always on the lookout for unique, but not weird (in my mind) names.
