what do you guys think of the name Joely Harper for a girl?  i am terrible at picking out boys names but i really like this one, especially with our very boring last name Smith.

Is it Jo-lee or Joel-ee? It looks like the latter to me, so I'm not fond of the spelling. If it's the first, I loooove it.

It's a little too unisex sounding for me but I think it flows really nicely.

Hate the spelling, love the name. Jolie Harper would be a lot better. Joely looks like joe-ELLE-ee or Joel-lee.

Ohhh, yeah. I can understand that dilemna. That would suck. In that case, I'd go with Joely, too.

I love it. And I always understood the name Joely to be a feminine of Joel, anyway. (The only other one I've heard is Joella). Some people pronounce Joel as one syllable, though.

I'm assuming the Harper is in honour of Harper Lee? That's why I'd use it--same reason we have an increasing number of boys named Atticus these days.

I think Joely and it's other spellings, is OK. Not keen on Harper, which to me should be kept as a last name, and if it's used for a first name, for a boy, as it's way too masculine sounding.

Also, Joely Harper is very similar to Joely(sp?) Fisher, the actress. A harper and a fisher, but no candlestick maker. :D

Oh and, do you say it with a hard J, as in the G sound in giraffe, or a soft J as in how the french say the word jolie, which means pretty?
