Lucia -- I like this if it's pronounced "Loo-see-uh", but someone told me it's supposed to be "Loo-shuh". Can it be either?

Elias -- Is it "Ell-ee-us" or "Ee-lye-us"? I think both are nice.

No idea, I'm sure you COULD pronounce it however you want but all my Irish relatives pronounce it loo-chee-uh or loo-she-uh.
BUT I'm positive about the Elias one.

Yeah that's where I got my pronunciation for Lucia, was Ana Lucia from LOST. lol

As for Elias, all the Elias' I have known it's pr. Ell-eye-us. Plus the Big Boy restaurant chain is run by the Ell-eye-us Brothers =)

I've always heard Lucia pr. as Loo-see-uh.

And I've always heard Elias as Ell-eye-us.

According to the baby name book I have, it's technically correct to pronounce Lucia as "Loo-sha" (English pronunciation), "Loo-see-uh" (Spanish), OR "Loo-chee-uh" (Italian).

That sounds completely accurate. Because I have heard them all 3 ways, just Loo-see-uh more commonly since I'm a big LOST fan =)

I always thought Lucia was "loosha" because there is a suburb here, St Lucia, pronounced that way. But then I met people with the name who pronounce it loo-see-uh. Now it all makes sense.

I've only ever heard it said ALE-ee-us. Like Alias. I know a woman named Elia and she pronounces it ALE-ee-a, too.

Clarification: The Elias and Elia I know are from Argentina, so maybe its a difference in pronunciation from how it would be said in the U.S.

I've always heard Elias pronounced as Ee-lye-us or Ill-eye-us, basically the same thing.
And to me, Lucia is loo-chee-uh.

Elias can be pronounced different ways.
It was my great-grandpa's name and it was pronounced E-lie-us. Or, my mom is just crazy and can't prounounce. haah

Another way I saw it pronounced is E-lee-us.

Lucia is one of those names where people have made it "Loo-sha" because they have mashed it into 2 syllables.

Elias, to me, is Ee-Lie-Us.

Lucia depends on what background you have. I know a Loo-see-uh and a Loo-chee-uh that both spell it that way.

And I've only seen Elias as Ee-lie-us.

I have a friend named Lucia who pronounces it loo-SEE-uh. It partly depends on the nationality of the person. My friend is Cuban, and I would imagine most Hispanics would pronounce it that way as well.

Lucia = loo-chee-uh (chee as in cheese)
Though it depends on the nationality and such.

Elias = eh-lie-us (Eli = ee-lie)

I've only heard Loo-sha for Lucia, but I've never heard Elias at all.

Lucia is my middle name and it's pronounced Loo-chee-ah.
But you can pronounce it how you like.

I've only heard: Elias pronounced Elle-ee-iss; Lucia pronounced Loo-chee-uh.

I think that there's different pronunciations for every name.

Anyways, I've heard Lucia pronounced both ways that you put down, in addition to Loo-chee-uh. As for Elias, just...Ee-lye-us.

To clarify on the first point...I think it would depend on where you live.

I've heard Elias pronounced as Ell-ee-ash...but that was as a lastname.

I forget where, but somewhere they pronounce S as SH.
