What are some of the names you just CAN'T use because of the associations they have with particular people?

I'm a primary school teacher so by the time I end up having children, I'm sure lots of names will be off limits for me because of the children I've taught. I don't like many boys names, so they will make my list even shorter!

I will not use Thomas, Kelly, Jacob, Jeremy, Joshua, Noah, Frances, Mia...and so many more!

I will not use:

Holly
Jennifer
Tabitha
Sean

... That's about it. Though the only name I would've liked otherwise would have been Holly.

I will never use Sean either. I've only known one, and I wanted to rip his head off every time I came in contact with him, arrogant jackass. But I'm with you, I didn't like the name, so it won't be a loss.

That's funny, my reasoning for not using Sean is kinda the same. Though I never personally met him he was a total jackass to my boyfriend and all our friends. Total scum, to put it bluntly.

Kelly, Tracie, Samantha, Stephanie, Christine, Joseph, and Nicholas. I don't really like any of these names anyway though so it's all good. :)

I like the spellings of Nicolas and Kellie better, but still wouldn't use them.

My husband refuses to use Natalia because of associations he has with the name, which I thought was sad. And I can't use Miranda or Deborah because they're good friends of mine and that would be kind of weird for us.

Michelle (my fiance's ex wife's name), Danielle (the skank bitch who tried to take my fiance from me). The only one I am slightly sad about is Danielle. If, by some miracle, my fiance and I got pregnant (again) (tubal!! 14+ months ago now), and had a girl, I would have LOVED Danielle. My fiance's name is Daniel, LOL.

Erica/Eric is out, as well.

Jordan--my ex (even though we're still friends, I don't think my husband would appreciate it)
Rebecca--husband's evil ex
Kristen--husband's even more evil ex
Abbey--husband's best friend who I slightly (ok, not so slightly) resent
Monica--every single Monica I ever met was a rhymes-with-witch
Amy--just a bad association I don't want to go into

Benjamin (Ben)
Matthew (Matt)
Thomas (Tom)
Elizabeth (Liz)
Alexander (Alex)

There's probably a billion more, but those are the ones at the top of my head that I wouldn't ever use because of the negative associations, but that I still think are nice names. I wish I could erase Ben-the-person from my memory because I would love to use Benjamin, but I know it's just not going to happen! Oh well...

My son's name is Benjamin (Ben). When we were first thinking of names, I didn't want to use it because I have an ex named Benjamin. BUT, luckily, I've also been very good friends with another boy named Ben. In fact, he was my very first best friend. So, I decided to associate "Ben" with the boy who was my best friend when I was five instead of the jerk who broke my heart when I was 21.
It worked out wonderfully and I can't imagine my son being named anything else.

I'm also a teacher. Right now, only one really makes me twitch when I hear the name, because of the former student it reminds me of - Max. *twitch*

Everyone says and does something to rub people(s) the wrong way at some time or another, so in that regard a person would have to have really done me wrong, and been either a really malicious vindictive vicious person, or really cold and apathetic.

Other wise, I try to just judge a name on it's own. The names of family and friends who I hold dear, would possibly be used as a middle name, or first name if they had passed away, like my dad.

The list of names I wouldn't use because of my association with them is too long to even begin to list, especially since I'm a teacher too.

My sister had a teacher in middle school who said that he and his wife, also a teacher, had agreed that when they had a child, they'd have to pick a name that had never showed up in any of their classes to avoid that kind of association. They had a pretty tough time when they became pregnant with triplets!

Damien. I associate is with The Omen.
Kieran. I babysat a really obnoxious little boy of that name when I was in middle school.
Judas. I think it's beautiful, but because of Judas Iscariot, it will always be stigmatized.

And I'll always try to stay away from names of aquaintances. I don't child will not be mixed up with anyone we know.

Steven/Stephen/Steve
Jackson
Zac/Zach/Zachary

all I can come up with off the top of my head, but I feel verrrrry strongly about them all, especially the guys' names.

I would never use the name Emmi becase it's my cousins name and the name of a "friend" of mine. Also I wouldn't use the name Emilia because it is the name of two of my ex best friends. I hate the name Emmi anyway but Emilia I'm kinda bummed about.

My DH is a high school teacher and basically every name I give him he associates with a student. So he says no to them all.. :(

Nathan (I love it, but it's my son's sperm donors name.)
Stephen (another crappy ex)
Alicia (girl who made my life miserable)
Jane (husbands ex)
