[identity profile] solagirl.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My friend just announced she is having a baby, and that she likes the name Ruby. I told her I  thought the name Ruby June was really cute. She agreed, but said it wouldn't work because the baby will be born in July. I thought that was a little odd...

So, how much does the time of year affect the name of your baby? It "ok" to name a summer baby Noel and a winter baby Summer? Which name are more seasonally related that others? Like Holly vs. Iris? What about weather and  time of day names like Misty, Dawn and Sunny?
Lastly, can you think of any boy's names that have this "issue"? Seems like most seasonal/desciptive names are female...

My dad's name is Noel and he was born in April. My sister's middle name is Noelle and she was born in August. And her first name means "bringer of gifts" so she was a christmas baby born in the summer. I agree with the above comments: it's better if the baby's name DOESN'T match when it was born, and it doesn't really matter if it's just the middle name anyway.
