Lorelei/Lorelai

WDYT of the name Lorelei (also spelled Lorelai)?

What would be a nice middle name for it?

I hate the spelling Lorelai with a passion.
I really like Lorelei after a book I read as a teen, she lived in Australia so her name was shortened to Lola.
She had a twin named Christel (they were german).

One of my favorite names is similar to Lorelei, it's Lodemai.

Middle name suggestions:
Lorelei Beatrix
Lorelei Isabel
Lorelei Sophia
Lorelei Christine
Lorelei Myriam
Lorelei Frances
Lorelei Madeline
Lorelei Greta
Lorelei Janis
Lorelei Vanessa

It's a very pretty name, but I would think you got the name from Gilmore Girls. I didn't even watch that show, but it's the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear that name.

Lorelei is one of my least favorite names. Sorry.

I was always under the impression that the name is spelled Lorelei and that the Lorelai spelling came about strictly from Gilmore Girls. I might be wrong about that, but the second spelling would definitely make me think you got it from GG. Lorelei is my pick.

I don't like it much, but I would spell it Lorelei, because I think it's the original spelling.

Lorelei Isabel
Lorelei Charlotte
Lorelei Claire

I'm with everyone else, Lorelai just looks wrong to me. Lorelei is a gorgeous name. For middle names I would probably go with something pretty simple/common like Anne or Jane or Elizabeth.

Lorelei is the name of one of a German folklore figure similar to the sirens who would lure sailor to their deaths with a song. So no I'm not that keen on it, but I doubt many people outside of Germany know that.

i absolutely love the name Lorelei and it's one of my top picks if we have a girl, however it doesn't flow well with our last name Lenahan so i probably won't win.

As for middle name.. we were considering Daphne

I love Lorelei, but I dislike Lorelai.

I don't whether I actually don't like it, or I just can't like it because it's so deeply associated with Gilmore Girls to me. It's like, there are only two people in the world name Lorelai to me.

I prefer the spelling Lorelei though, I know that.

I like Lorelai better because to me it looks like Lore-lie while Lorelei looks like Lore-lay (like leis in Hawaii). Either way, i like the name, but now that i have said it in my head so much it sounds really silly.
I had a friend in elementary school named Lorelai. She was from... Romania i believe. She told me her name was the Hawaiian spelling, but it is a Polish name. Not sure how credible that is coming from a second grader.
And the gilmore girls connotation endears it to me all the more. Guilty.

I used to like it...until I met my not-so-nice cousin-in-law who changed her name to Lorelei after her dog. Because of her, it has negative connotations in my mind.

I think middle names like Anne or Elizabeth would go well with Lorelei.

I don't care for the name, regardless of how it's spelled, but I first saw it spelled Lorelai (thanks, Gilmore Girls!) so Lorelei, even though it's the traditional spelling, will always look off to me.
