WDYT of the name Darlene? Do you think Darcy or Lena would be a better nickname?

I like both Darcy and Lena, but I don't like Darlene for some reason.

It sounds like blue-collar/lower class name to me. That perception probably has a lot to do with it being the name of Roseanne's daughter on the TV show.

I like Darcy and Lena better than Darlene as names in their own right, but for a nickname of Darlene, I think Lena works better.

I don't think that should stop you if you really like it! People name their kids after literary references all the time. I didn't even think of it until you mentioned it, and the character is one that most people like :)

I think if you want to call your kid Darcy or Lena you should name them Darcy or Lena. I think neither really quite goes with Darlene anyway.

I think of Darlene as a little harsh and/or trashy, probably because of the show Roseanne. She was my favorite character, but still. lol

I don't like Darlene (reminds me of Roseanne too much, partially) but I like Darcy (b/c of P&P) and Lena. I REALLY like Lena.

The first thing I thought of was the show Roseanne too. The name just sounds very trashy to me. I would just go with Darcy, if you like Darcy.

I don't like Darlene, but I do like Lena and I like Darcy but for a boy.

I like Lena and Darcy, but I don't like Darlene, it seems a little boring and outdated.

Darlene sounds really trashy and old-ladyish to me. Lena by itself is SO much nicer. SO much.

Lena is definitely better than Darcy, too.

It's my Aunt's name and I think it's terrible.

It reminds me of my hairstylist - a Southern middle aged, plump woman with short, curly brown "big" hair.

I think it's horrible. No offense.

It reminds me of my uncle's bratty step-daughter, but the name itself is ok. I think Lena is more evident as a nickname, but Darcy is certainly cute.
