I really like the nickname Tony.

The problem is that I'm not a big fan of the name Anthony and I don't like the name on it's own. I was wondering a.) if anyone knew of any other names that Tony could potentially be short for and b.) what you all thought of using Tony as a nickname for names ending in -ton.

If you have any suggestions, I'm looking for names that go with:

You could use a name with "ton" in it, such as the name Remington. The only thing is, it's a bit of a stretch to get the Tony sound from those names.

You could use a first and middle name together to get the Tony ("toh-knee") sound.
As in, first name possibilities:

Alberto

Reynalto
Santo
Christopher
Topher
Tobiah
Tobias
Tobin

Middle name possibilities:
Neil
Neal
Neeman

I'm debating Alton. It's close to Anton and Anthony and there's not a whole lot more to it so it wouldn't be hard to extract the -ton. I've also considered Tony as a nickname to Colton years ago.

Just wanted to say that I feel your pain. I adore Rosie as a nickname, but I don't like any of the "Ros-" given names that I've seen.

That said, I like Anthony and Tony, but I'm willing to admit that part of the appeal is Tony Stark. =P

Well, of course. I figure Tony is one of those few comic book related names that I could actually get away with, lol. I actually really like Anthony Edward as a name but I'm just not feeling Anthony as much as other names.

At least I'm trying to be more subtle than the Harley Quinn and Bruce Wayne parents out there.

Well, I want to use Lex as a nickname for Alexander, so I don't think I'm one to talk (it's totally a legit name! I swear!). Far too many of my favorite names come from comics. Although I'm not a fan of Harley (the name; the character is win).

I have a friend who wants to name her son Bruce, and I fully support this. =D

Seriously, if I could get away with a Clark or a Peter or a Ted I would. If Theodore didn't class with every other name I like I'd totally name a kid in honor of Ted Kord! I really like Jason and I might use that one and - for once - it's not a comic connection. I more or less skipped through Jason's tenure as Robin. >>;...

I might name my cat Bruce. Or Shazam. :D

Aww, why couldn't you get away with Clark? I love it! I wish I could use it, but I want to use Lex more, and... yeeeeaaaaah not so much would they work together. XD I don't think any of your suggestions are bad at all. I think the nice thing about DC is they're pretty good with names. It sounds a lot better than naming your kids after, say, Star Trek characters. =P (As I have seen some posters try to do.)
