[identity profile] umbrella-term.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hi all,

We were finally able to confirm that our baby is a girl. We already have a first name chosen, and that's Bronwen, after one of my favourite poets. Now we need a middle name. Any suggestions?

Bronwen Jane
Bronwen Ivy
Bronwen Rose (I know a lot of people think it's filler, but I really like the way it sounds with Bronwen)

I guess I'm not very creative today - that was all I could think of!

I think a nice classic middle name would be so pretty. Bronwen Elizabeth or Bronwen Olivia. =) i love more unusual first names with classic middle names. they're so elegant sounding.

The rhythm that seems would flow best, to me, is a two syllable name with the accent on the second syllable.

Bronwen Marie
Bronwen Linae
Bronwen Nicole - pretty but maybe not with the n ending and n beginning..
Bronwen Janae
Bronwen Cheri
Bronwen Jeanine/ Janeen - this ends up with perhaps too many n's
Bronwen Jeanette

But I also love Bronwen Elizabeth like icebyrd67 suggested.

Are you set on Bronwen, or would you consider Bronwyn? I just mention it because I think the 'y' makes it more feminine and prettier.

As for middle name, I would go with a name starting with B, just because I like the idea of the nick name B.B. from first and middle name initials. So here's my suggestions:

Bronwen Bella
Bronwen Bethany
Bronwen Bianca
Bronwen Breanna

Also, I would stay away from middle names that have a letter that would make for initials that could pose as a teasing hazard. Like B.J., B.K., B.M., B.O., B.P., B.Q., B.S.

haha good that he noticed eh. I know how easy it is to get caught up in the fullness of names and how they sound together. It usually isn't until you write them down and stare at them that you notice things like bad initials connotations, or spelling that when just saying the word seems fine, but then looking at it on paper doesn't necessarily seem appealing.

You've picked a great first name, I'm sure you'll do just as well on picking out the middle name. Congrats! :)

If i ever have a girl (2 boys so far and a mystery on the way) I have had bronwyn picked out as a middle name since boy number one, I am scottish and my hubby is irish so our children have pretty traditional gael names.
