What names would work with the nickname Sally? I just think it's really cute, but couldn't think of many full names I liked that would work.

Also, opinions on Rosalie?

Not sure how traditional this is, but I've known a couple of girls with the name Sarah who've gone by Sally as a nickname.

Rosalie is a beautiful name!

My sister's name is Sara and she's gone by Sally her whole life. This is a complete mystery to most people though. It is apparently not common knowledge that Sally is a nn for anything, much less Sara/h.

My best friend's daughter is named Salome (http://www.behindthename.com/name/salome). She doesn't go by Sally, but she easily could. They chose to pronounce her name like Shalom with no H. I personally like the alternate pronunciation sal-oh-may though.

Rosalie is fine. I don't have any strong feelings on it, good or bad.

Selena would be nice for a nn Sally, but you might spell it Salina instead or something.

As far as I know, there's only one legit spelling of Selena. Behind the Name, the most reliable names website around, says that it is "perhaps an invented name based on similar-sounding names such as Selina."

My mom has called me Sal my whole life, even though my name is Julianne, lol. But my middle name is Sarah :P and I have heard it be a nn for Sara(h).

I don't think that's why Mom started calling me Sal, though. I have no idea why, but I love it and it's her special nn for me, only she can call me that :) (sorry if that didn't really answer your question, just throwing that out there :))

My friend Elizabeth goes by Sally. I'm not sure where it came from though.

I'm a Rosalie! It's either a hippie name (as in my case; I was named for a Grateful Dead song) or a really old lady's name (peaked in 1890 or something like that). Lot's of people compliment my name, but I have gone by Rosie and Rose most of my life.

Rosalie is the best spelling for it. Rosa Lee is the absolute worst. Rosalee is not the worst, but close. And people who prn it Rose-ALL-ee are annoying. :)

I love Rosalie. It used to be one of my top names, but I'm worried it might be a bit too frilly for me.

Sally is traditionally a nickname for Sarah. (Go figure.) I'm sure there's other things it could be short for, like... Salvadoranea! I don't know.

Rosalie I associate almost exclusively with a vampire in the Twilight books. She's very beautiful, but very unpleasant at first. As you get to know her, you understand the way she is and I came to like her, but she can still be pretty shallow and petulant. I tell you all this since, with Twilight being the phenomenon it is, a LOT of people are going to associate Rosalie with that character. The name itself is gorgeous, I think. You might consider Rosa Lee if you want to dodge the vampire connotation.
