[identity profile] flowerfull.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Today I came across a couple of interesting names...siblings Asterid (girl) and Key (boy).

WDYT? Would you ever use them?

I prefer Astrid spelled this way. I tend to like flower names, but with the last name Farmer, I think it would be a little much.

I like good old fashioned Astrid. The only Key I've ever known was a cat.

If it were Astrid...I still don't know whether I would use it, but I don't really dislike it that way. I'm not a fan of Key.

Astrid is alright. Key sounds like a soap opera name.

I don't like that spelling very much. It reminds me of asteroid. Astrid isn't my style either though so I guess it doesn't make that much of a difference how it is spelled.

I oddly like Key, but I think it would have to be a nickname for something. I wouldn't just name my kid that.

Astrid spelled that way looks awful, but I absolutely love Astrid spelled the traditional way!!

Key is pretty weird though.

I have a feeling they heard the names somewhere and spelled them wrong. Key is probably derived from Kai, which is a German name. It's probably found in other European countries too, but the Kais I've met are German.

And Astrid instead of Asterid, of course.

I'm not a fan of either name, tbh.

I LOVE Astrid. It's one of my top names.

The spelling Asterid really irks me, though.

I don't like Key, at all.

That looks like someone was trying to spell Asteroid and missed a letter.
Astrid is much much better, even though I don't really like the sound.

Asterid does remind me of asteroid, which is a shame because I think that Astrid is a very pretty name. I'm surprised that I don't hate Key but that said, I don't like it either.
