Boy name help, please!

So, i've been lurking for ages and it just occurred to me that, hey, i can post too. I'm so brilliant.

I am so stuck on boy names. We have some we like, but i just feel like i'm still looking for something, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

To give an idea of what we like here are the names we have so far:
Corbin (but Cora is my top girls name and would win out if i had to choose... so what do I doooo?!)

Elijah
Kiran
Gavin
Finley
Malachi
Milo (he hates so off limits, though)
Xavier
Alexander



I like old names without being "dad names" (like Thomas or Michael or Steven or that kind of thing) or Unique/foreign names if that helps at all.

Caden is nowhere near unique. In fact, it is the exact opposite of unique: it is tryndee to the point of being tacky, and will disappear in a sea of Aidans, Jadens, Braydons, and Haydens. Sorry. Don't get me started on the gazillion different spellings. Caden, Cayden, Cadyn, Keiden, etc.

Havok? Really? You would do that to a child? Imagine the jokes that will never let up - "Hey Havok, wreaking any lately?" "Told you the guy would wreak Havok on his test." "Havok, your outfit wreaks." Just warning.

Keziah is a girls' name.

The others one are nice; I would choose any one of those.

I had never heard of Caden until I read it somewhere randomly. Then I joined this page and hear nothing but people complaining about Aiden names. It's not tacky at all. Not where I live. Everyone hates trends. I get it. I hate common names (but usually because they are just ugly and have little worth in my mind outside of their history), but that/those are not common around here at all. I work in a k-12 and haven't come across a single -ayden name of whatever spelling. I know one 2 year old girl named Aidyn, that's it. Kid'll be growing up in Asia anyway, so that sort of stuff doesn't matter. I didn't say those names were unique (as, again, i know everyone's opinion on aydens), I just said I like them.

& yeah that was my bad I was copying the boy's list to here and i wasn't really paying attention like i should have been (hense the Keziah on there as well as Havok- i know what everyone thinks of that, didn't mean to post it. Woops!)

You did say that you like unique names, and most people who name their children something that rhymes with Aidan think themselves to be unique, so I just put two and two together and came up with the aforementioned conclusion. My apologies if that was not the case.

You're in Ohi and you've never come across an Aidan name? For now, at least, because trust and believe that the Aidan names are very widespread. Caden - that spelling alone - is number 71 in Ohio. There are three different spellings of Aidan on the Ohio Top 100 chart, and one spelling each of Jaden and Brayden. The chances of your child being one of three Aidans in a class is very high. I just don't recommend the names. I think they rob a child of some of their individuality since they're so widespread, more than any other name at the moment. The tacky part comes in when they all rhyme and they all have a gazillion spellings. But if you choose to use it stick with the Caden spelling. It's clean and simple and looks the most traditional.

I would recommend Nymbler, Behind the Name, and Name Nerds to find uncommon names for boys. Most of the ones you like are somewhere on the Top 1000 list if I'm not mistaken.

When I was a kid Aiden was my favorite name, but I got over it once i met other people with that name. I just like Caden because I like C/K names (Cora, Corbin, etc) and in spite of its popularity. I actually found it when i was looking for a replacement of Corbin once i realized that my top 2 names were way too close.

Well like I said, he wouldn't be in class here, he will be amongst Wang Pengs or Ji Hoons, so it's not the deciding factor- though I grew up hating my name because it was so common so I really would take that into consideration before I actually chose that name for a kid. It definitely wouldn't be the deciding factor, though. I just like names that sound goode and don't mean "pig feces" in some obscure language or something.

Nymbler is what gave me about half of my boy list so i've already sorta hit my limit with that site, but thanks for the suggestion =)

I like Kiran because- Kieran was on my list til I realized/remembered that Kiran is an Indian spelling of it, and my name is Indian as well (Sanskrit), so I thought that spelling would be neat while the name is Irish as well (as are we). =)

I quite like Elijah and Malachi out of your list. Malachi is definitely in my top ten. I know a lot of people like Milo but I'm not a huge fan of it.

You're welcome. Well, I admit I first started liking the name because of Twilight, but now I absolutely LOVE it. I like how all of the vampires have "unpopular, uncommon" names, because that's just my taste and I find myself in love with most of the names!

Yep he's one of the vampires in the main family/coven thing.

Esme, Carlisle, Edward, Bella, Rosalie, Emmet, Alice, Jasper, Jacob- all of these names are now stuck with Twilight associations in my mind and I trying to get over it.

As much as I love the name Xavier, I always nix it because virtually no-one knows how to pronounce it. Unfortunately, we have a bunch of little Ekzaviers who will grow up to play the ekzylophone.

Yeah, i'm not a big fan of it in either pronunciation, but I especially don't like ex-zavier. >_
