[identity profile] girlsteve.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

I'm reading a sci-fi book at the moment, and the main female character is called Josella.

It's not something I would use, but I rather like the sound of it. Does anyone know if it's a real name, or something the author made up? And what do you guys think of it?

Man, my husband would have a coronary if I let him name a kid after that book.

Not a particularly amazing or horrible name, either way, I think. If you'd nickname her Ella it certainly pushes it to the blaaargh side.

I don't like it all. For some reason I dislike all names ending in -ella, but I do like just 'Ella'. I know, it makes no sense!

I tried looking for 'Josella' in some online babyname databases, but I haven't come up with anything, sorry.

I'm not aware that it's a legit name, and it definitely sounds made up.
Like Josephine merged with Ella just to make it girly.

It's certainly not the worst name I've seen.

I think it's cute, it sounds kind of like Gisel(l)e or Gisel(l)a.

I would use it.
Don't know about my fiancee, though, LOL
