A girl I used to work with is pregnant with her first baby, a girl, due on December 20th. She's planning on naming her Noella Bliss. I think I could handle Noelle/Noella Joy, but.....Bliss is a little much for me.

I'm with you on the Noella Joy... I'm not feeling "Bliss" either... Maybe with a different first name... Maybe..

Actually, I think I like Bliss better as a middle name for Noella.

However, I think both Noella Joy and Noella Bliss sound like Christmas-themed candy bars.

I completely agree with you: I can deal with Noella (although I prefer Noelle) but Bliss...not so much. It's a good thing it's her middle name and not her first, though. And it could have been Blyss! ;)

I like Bliss!! :)
I know it's too stripperish for some, but I just like both the sound and meaning

Noella, I'm not too fond of. I prefer Noelle.
And also, I was born on Dec 20th, and it's bad as it is that parents and friends take advantage of your birthday being close to Xmas and give you only one global present.. and that's without your name underlining costantly how you were born close to Xmas !!! It would have been ok for a middle name, but as a first name, that's a little too much.

I'm torn with Holiday names. Part of me thinks they are tacky to use that close to Christmas, and the other part of me hinks they are tacky to use when it isn't Christmas. I think I just don't like them, period.

I love the name Bliss. I know of at least 2 people with that name/middle name.

I really don't like the name Joy, so I'd choose Bliss over that, but I think that Noella Bliss sounds quite pretty anyway.

Bliss makes me think of a blister, and that's gross.

My friend gave her second child the middle name Lace...

I get that it's a legitimate name, sort of - there was a girl I went to school with named Lacey, but I just keep thinking of tablecloths and doilies every time I think of my friend's daughter...

I knew of sb whose last name was Bliss, and I always remember has as "[firstname] Bliss" and not just [firstname]. I thought it was a cool name, and I think she ended up marrying and changing her name, which made me go :(.
