Raphael.

Like it, don't like it, any connotactions that come to mind? And - weird question - do you think it matters where the family is from? Does a Rapheal have to be dark skinned and artistic, or can they be pale, blonde and petite?

Any comments please :D

I like it. It's not something I would use, but only because there are names I like more...I think it's a pretty name.

I don't think it matters where the family is from at all, although I do picture a guy with raven black hair when I hear that name!

I don't know if they have to be dark skinned, but that is definitely what I automatically think of. Rafael Nadal, that's where my mind goes. I can't picture it on somebody who is pale.

I don't like the spelling of it that you posted at all; spelled Rafael, I don't think it's that bad.

Raphael = angel to me, and no particular appearence comes to mind (other than angels and doctors...). I like how it sounds :)

I do think Italian, painter, and turtle, but it still is a nice name. As long as you don't mind the associations, I don't see anything wrong with it. I could see it working for light featured people too. I can't think of any good nicknames though, if that matters.

Raphael is totally tall, dark, and handsome in my head.

funny you wrote that- in art school, one of the most pretentious (yet so skilled artistically) boys in school with me was Raphael- and he was dark and smoldering
everyone hated him- he was quite the loner- but, very talented

Love it. No connotations really...the only person I think of is the biathlete Raphael Poiree, which I guess won't be too common an association!
I think it could fit on any boy, it's not a name that suggests a particular appearance to me.

I would actually see someone blond, but I can see where the dark haired connotation would come from. I think it seems like a very Italian name but it wouldn't HAVE to be.

I love it. I think it works on any ethnicity/coloration.
