Apr. 26th, 2006 08:00 pmJust throwing a few more names about...
Girls:
-Elliot
-Lirael

-Mona
Boys:
-Warrick
-Seth
I really like Lyra in combination with "E" middle names...
-Lyra Eden

-Lyra Ellis
-Lyra Elizabeth
-Lyra Evangeline (I don't know why Evangeline, lately I've really liked it)
Also...

What do people think and what names go with Mona (first or middle)? I thought Mona Mae but I didn't know if the "M M" was too much for two short names.

Date: 2006-04-26 12:14 pm (UTC)I don't like Lyra (like a Turkish Lira?) or Mona (too old-ladyish).
I love Seth, always have. Warrick...is ok. NMS I think. I like Evangeline, except it sounds French. Not into French names. But I like the meaning.
How would you say Bethan? People would say Bee-than. Eeek.
Love Alexander, love Seth William.
"M M" is too much. I hate the name Mae. Sounds like a mean old neighbor.

Date: 2006-04-26 12:28 pm (UTC)Lyra (Lie-rah) from another series of books I like and Mona I started to like the other day. I think it sounds quite cute :)
I would say Bethan as Beth-Ann.
Alexander was my great grandad and my dad's late step-dad's name.
Thanks for your opinion :)

Date: 2006-04-26 12:53 pm (UTC)I don't like Eden, Elizabeth and Evangeline. Bethan looks like a incomplete form of Bethany. I do like Alexander and Willaim.

Date: 2006-04-26 02:03 pm (UTC)I have only ever known a male Elliot, I don't really like it as much on a girl. But it has grown on me, it's cute.
I have always kinda liked Mona, but it seems like tempting fate (moaner). Mona Mae is good, may look better as Mona May though.
Mona Grace
Mona Elizabeth
Mona Louise
Mona Madalin
Mona Marie (I don't think the MM thing matters too much)
Mona Alexis
Mona Skye
Also, I LOVE Seth. Seth William is good. I have also put it with
Seth James
Seth Justin (my SO)
Seth Alexander

Date: 2006-04-26 02:18 pm (UTC)mona is cute! and really hard to pair with a middle name. hmmm.. some ideas: mona belle, mona beth, mona genevieve, mona grace, mona hazel, mona jane, mona joy, mona lane (kinda sounds like a street though haha), mona laurel, mona lee/leigh (maybe too similar to mona lisa), mona lorraine, mona louise, mona lynn, mona paige, mona pearl, mona violet, mona vivian.
i just realized you said what first names go with mona, too. d'oh! oh well... i tried to think of some but i think it's even harder to use mona as a middle name. it's definitely a cool name, but hard to pair.

Date: 2006-04-26 09:22 pm (UTC)i remember when naming a girl taylor was outrageous. someone who worked with my mother had a baby in the early 90s and named her taylor james, and everyone was aghast!! now its more of a girls name than a boys (ive always hated it, still do, doesnt matter which sex you put it on, but i digress) and now i know two girls with the middle name james, in one case honoring the babys father and in the other, the babys grandfather.
my point is: use what you want. most of the more modern sounding male names (ie: i dont mean frank and george) are going to ultimately become unisex (to some degree) in the future anyway.

Date: 2006-04-27 01:08 am (UTC)Lyra will be pronounced lie-rah
Well I doubt we'd use Elliot, Elis or Elies, I hate them names with a passion, there so horrible.
I am undecided about Warrick (yes I am a massive CSI fan but, I dunno)
Seth is ok but still not loving it,
Lirael I LOVE as a first name and is pronounced li (lick) - rae -ell (dont say it slow, sounds weird)

Date: 2006-04-27 02:20 pm (UTC)Elliott on a girl makes me think of Scrubs... so I dont mind it as much as I would have before, because she's very pretty and I think it works on her. Mona reminds me of the moderately flaky girlfriend Ross had on Friends. I'm not a huge fan of the name in general, but it's cute.
