Alexander
Cole
Zachary
Clark
Lucas

Kathleen
Catherine
Phoebe
Monica
Moira
Victoria
Genevieve
Geraldine
Summer
Leia
Noel
Xena
Cameron
Jaclyn

That's a lot of names! Some are still on my list of favorites, but most aren't haha. Do you remember any of your favorite names from when you were younger? Did you make any lists as kids?

I've made lists since I was 7 years old. They were mostly reallllly crazy names back then. Not that my list isn't crazy now. lol

A lot of mine were weird spellings too.

Gehniphurr, LOL. Man, wow.

I was IN LOVE with the name Devin though, at like 9 years old.

What else, hmmm... let's see if I can remember. I liked picking words as names. I still do, but like, more serious ones. I used to love the name Swing for a boy. lol

When I was five I like Kimberly (because it was a really pretty girl in my classes name) and Zachary (because of saved by the bell). I don't like either of the names now.

oh... when i was little, every doll was sarah or susie.

i got into names when i was about eleven or twelve. i liked girls names just as much then, too... so all the favorites i can remember are girls. uh.

constance
twyla
julia

that's all i can remember. julia has stayed strong, though. it is still a favorite. first it was julia margaret, but changed to Julia Charlotte and hasn't changed since.

OT, but they had the Friends episode on last night where phoebe has the triplets and that just made me laugh becuase they were naming the second boy "Chandler" but it turned out to be a girl and so it goes:
Chandler: So uh, now that little Chandler turned out to be a girl, what are they gonna name her?
Phoebe: They're gonna call her Chandler.
Chandler: That's kind of a masculine name, don't you think?
Phoebe: Works on you.

sorry for taking up so much space, but that just made me crack up that i JUST saw that episode again last night and then i come here and someone like the name chandler for a girl.

From: [identity profile] anapology.livejournal.com
LOL that's so weird, because i just watched the friends episode where Monica, Chandler & Phoebe are looking after the triplets for the first time.

Monica: Awww... look at chandler holding baby girl chandler
Chandler: Where have i heard baby girl chandler before? Oh right, Coach Carson!

(or something to that effect, it was 2 hours ago, i fell asleep :-p)

really mature list for an 11-year old!

My favorite growing up was Brooke. I was completely sold on the fact that that was going to be my daughters name (I was like... 6). It's funny because that was supposed to be MY name (but my dad hated it!)

Not as much as I used too... I'd never use it, although I still think it's an alright name. I'm glad I was a "Trista" and not a "Brooke" though... I love having a unique name.

I believe some of my pre-teen favorites were:

Hannah Tzeitel
Holly Joy
Alleluia Joy (!!!)
Annie Rose
Matthew Valjean
Thomas Pascal
Benjamin Cole

On the whole, not too bad. But there are definitely some doozies on that list...

hah, that's adorable!

I still remember this TV show that used to be on Nikelodeon when I was a kid... it was a game show where they had to guess what was 'unique' about the person (if they had a special skill or something), and this one girl on there had over 50 middle names!! APPARENTLY her mum had been keeping a list of favorite girls names since a kid and when she had her daughter gave them ALL to her as middle names... hearing her say her full name was ridiculous!

Ts-ai-tuhl. Or Ts-eye-tuhl, whichever amateur phonetic construction you prefer. Ts as in "tsar." It's a Hebrew name. I think I probably got it from Fiddler on the Roof or something. I think the full name I liked was Hannah Maria Tzeitel. Weird.

When I was younger, around maybe six or eight or so, I really loved the name Kimberly (as in the pink power ranger). I also loved Erica and Michelle and Susanna (though I'm not sure I spelled it that way).

When I was in middle school, I was slightly put out over my rather unusual name, and my favorite names were the most common names in my grade - Jennifer, Lauren, Lindsay, Kristin, Brittany, etc. Only I remember I wanted to spell Lauren as Lauryn and Lindsay as Lyndsey or Lyndsie, and I think Brittany as Britney (probably for Britney Spears).

Nicholas was my favorite boys' name for many years, after a boy I had a crush on, but before that I didn't worry about boys' names, because boys' were yucky, and I wasn't going to have any. :P

Thanks for inspiring the stroll down memory lane. :D

When I was a kid my very favorite name was Bridget. My babysitter's best friend was named Bridget.

I didn't think it could get better than Bridget.

I was also stuck on Amber and Brittany. Most of my barbies were named Amber, Bridget and Brittany.

Tiffany , Kelly, Amanda and Stephanie weren't far behind.

As for boys names, there was only one EVAN was the greatest name in the world. I don't know where I heard it!

Ah, you have made me dig up my old diary with a name list in it... but first, I remember only one name from when I was quite young (like maybe 7 or 8) I loved Charlotte, but then I combined Charlotte and Priscilla and made up my own name, Shasilla (yuckyuckyuck).... don't like those names anymore.

This list is from my diary dated in 1999, when I was 14. They're mostly girls' names, and I'm pretty sure I wrote them in no particular order.

Boys:
Aaron James
Jarod Mark
Andrew John
Jeremy

Girls:
Breanna Grace
Renée Michelle
Anika Kate
Hannah Nicole
Nicola Kate
Laura Michelle
Andrea Lily
Sarah Renée
Grace Miranda
Amanda Grace
Erica Lily
Jenna Michelle
Imogen Kate
Anna Michelle
Cara Lily
Juliet Anne
Caroline Grace
Lauren Michelle
Natalie
Stephanie
Cassidy
Emily

Hmm... well a lot of these have left my favourites list, but most of my current favourites are on there. I don't actually keep lists anymore, and don't generally make first-name/middle-name combos when I do think of names I like anymore either... it changes too much now.

PS - Lily is my grandmother's name, and in 1999 I knew nobody else with it, but it appears to be a very popular girls' name now :(

I went around teasing my parents I was going to name my kid Chakotay after Commander Chakotay from Star Trek Voyager. I also went around teasing that I'd use the name Hobie from Baywatch and Julian from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. I was a weird kid.

Then there was a time I swore I'd find me a husband with the last name Riker just so I can name my kid William Thomas from Commander Riker of Star Trek The Next Generation.

I'm a big Star Trek Geek as well as Star Wars. *Geek*

Definitely into preppy names when I was 11. Kristy, Kelly, Jennifer, Jessica. I am Rosalie, so I wanted the most normal and non-hippy sounding name in the world.

Now I like Katelynn Joy, Corrina Grace, Austin Christopher and Memphis Alexander. I also LOVE Hispanic names, like Emanuel, Salvador, Alejandro and Isabel.

I used to like Sadie Rose.
At one point I was really big on the name "Grace Shenandoah"! What was I thinking? I've also liked both Claudia and Mary Rose at some point.

My whole life I've wanted to name my son William or Daniel but recently both of those fell through. My MIL has some negative connotations with William (a friend of hers who died tragically) and my sister has "claimed" Daniel (my dad's name) for her own son.

When I was about 10, I loved the names Samantha Beth and Anthony William. My cabbage patch dolls names were changed to Susie Violet, Sherri-Lynn and Wesley Alan. I went through phases where I liked names like Kevin Aaron, Jack and Ben, Daphne and Evadne, Bridgette, Sebastienne and Vaughan (for a girl). My name styles have changed and have become more traditional. Currently, I love the name Jade and Grace for girls and James, Daniel and Gabriel for boys. I also really love, love, love the name Jhett(for a boy)
