The point of last night's CSI:NY was that there were several characters who went by the name Mac. The character names that the writers managed to come up with:

MacDonald
Mackiyo
Macabee
Machiavelli
MacQuinn

MacKendra (the only girl)

WDYT? Any of them actually make a nice first name?

I don't like any, except for MacKendra that has a nice sound.

The only "Mac" I'd consider for a first name is Mackenzie, only because SO likes it and I like Kenzia for a nn (it's the name of a plant)

I hate all of them. And my last name is MacDonald. Don't like it as a last name, definitley don't like it as a first.

Not really... he just sort of said the ends justify the means which some people could argue is completely valid.

Yeah, I dunno, maybe he wasn't a dick. I didn't know him obviously, haha. I guess what I should have said was that generally his name carries negative connotations, regardless of the things he actually said. Ruthless pursuit of power and whatnot, the things that first come to mind for most people when they hear Machiavelli, things you probably wouldn't want people thinking of when they think of your kid. :)

my issue with it would be that it's a last name.
I get that all that Mac&co were originally last names, but he was italian and italians don't use last names as first names, so it irks me lol

I really would like the name Machiavelli, and I don't think that he was necessarily as bad as a lot of people think, but I know that the associations with the name are just too strong.

I don't really like any of the others.

MacKendra is too HEY its maskulynn tayk mii dauther srs k? and the rest are surnames (I've never heard of no. 2, 3 & 5, and 5 sounds ridiculously awkward out loud to me).
