#2. The 'ij' sound does not exist in English, but it's very close to the English 'i'. In turn, the Dutch 'i' is pronounced like the English 'e'!

Yeah, Olivier is the Dutch version of Oliver. It's pronounced differently, though, Olivier = OH-lee-fee-r.

They happen to be Dutch people who moved to the US, and since all three names are strictly girl's names here, I suppose they never even considered the fact that their daughter's name could be looked upon as a boy's name.
