I've heard these three names recently:

Merritt
Schapelle
Shaeffer

Not a sibset or anything, but why I found them interesting is that they were all women. So, WDYT? Nice names, nice names on men, or just no good for anybody?

I knew a Merritt once, a long time ago.

All three sound like last names, like the parents mistook the Qwest book for the baby name book.

One of these is my last name without the S! I've seen Merritt in a sci-fi novel, and the character was male. If I used it, it would be for a male. But I wouldn't use it...

Honestly those are all better as last names.

I've heard Merritt before on boys and girls. I think it's okay for either gender.

I don't like either of the others. Shaeffer is a cool last name though.

Shaeffer is my dad's middle name.

I like Merit for a boy. I suppose I could see Merrit on a girl. She could go by Merri. But I don't really like misspelling word names. I definitely don't like it as much with an extra R and an extra T.

Schapelle and Shaefer are awful for women. I don't even think they're very good for men.

Schapelle is one of the cheapest sounding names I've ever heard, plus it makes me think of Schapelle Corby which is never good.

I am thinking of eventually using Merritt as a middle name for a boy. For personal reasons though, but I wouldn't use it unless I didn't sort of like the way it sounds. The other two are bleh.
