Remember that boy who changed his name into 'Captain Fantastic' (etc.)?
Well, looking for something else online I found a recent article about a girl who changed her name to CutOutDissection.com.

Girl changes name to CutoutDissection.com

A teenage girl has legally changed her name to CutOutDissection.com to protest against animal dissection in schools.

The nineteen-year-old from Kentucky, previously known as Jennifer Thornburg now insists on being called Cutout for short. Her new legal name is the internet address for a part of the website for the protest group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), according to her local paper, the Asheville Citizen Times.

Cutout says she began opposing dissections in school after a class assignment to dissect a chicken wing made her uncomfortable. She helped create a policy at her high school that allows students who object to dissections to complete an alternative assignment.

She is now an intern for PETA.

She added that most of her family members still call her Jennifer.

Personally, I think 'Peta' would have been a better option for her.

I'm somehow rather more forgiving when the decision is based on principle and not...what was captain fantastics reason again?

She still goes by Jennifer with her family and Cutout otherwise. It's not like shes helping a thing just by changing her name.

extra publicity maybe? We all know about the website now, and some official dealing with her at a later date is going to have to get curious...

I'm not saying it was a brilliant idea, and personally speaking I think I'd have gone about awareness raising differently, but, I dunno...It's not the worst 'teenager changes name' story of the year.

Just as bad as Sarah McCain Palin. This sort of shit is never a good idea.

Well, PETA people seem a bit loony anyway so it's not that big of a surprise for me that some of them would even change their names to support the cause. Changing your name into a web domain is pretty damn stupid, though.

I'm sorry, but that's fucking stupid. Wear it on a t-shirt, start a petition, get a tattoo even, but don't change your damn name to a URL.
