[identity profile] aimeewins.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I went to my friend's baby shower today, and found out they are planning to name their baby boy Herbie.
I am not a fan, but her boyfriend's mother mentioned that they're throwing around Jack, too.
WDYT?
for the record, parents are Sarah (20) and Josh (19).
and personally, I definitely prefer Jack.

they're both boring lame names imo, sorry :/
but at least Jack is not nerdy.

Are they interested in anything that is an actual name and not a nickname?

I prefer Herbie. It's original and plays off the whole old-fashioned names trend.

I know SO MANY kids named Jack from about 6 years old and younger. I'm really sick of that name.

i think herbie is terrible :( but i'm not a big fan of jack either. like another person said, that name has made a fierce comeback and it's all over the place now.

i think jack is fabulous, but i only have great connotations with that name (my man, my favorite uncle, etc)

herbie is stupid. its like they were trying to go with the "old fashioned" trend happening right now, but they totally blew it.

dear god i hope they go with jack.

Herbie makes me think of the car. Would be a cute family nickname, but I can't see using it as an actual name.

i hate herbie. it just sounds so..nerdy? idk. i like jack 10000x better, but nearly every baby boy is being named jack these days.

I really don't like Jack, but Herbie is so terrible that I'd go with Jack over that. =/ Herbie is a cute nickname that's not to be used outside of family after the kid hits double digit ages.

Herbie sounds like a name for a hermit crab.

Herbie is a car's name. I hope for the sake of the kid his name is Jack.

Herbert was my Dad and everyone called him Herbie, so I don't think it's THAT bad, but if it wasn't for my dad I'd probably think it's awful.

Is Herbie short for Herbert? Because that'd at least make it a little better... No offense to your friends.
