I have definately decided that I am NOT sharing my names with my future mother in law...until after the name is "written in stone"
I asked her about the name Sabrina the other day and she replied with "its a frivolous name and probably wouldnt get a good job b/c of it"
Needless to say I was SHOCKED!!!

Date: 2006-04-16 10:21 am (UTC)Yeah i pretty much told her that Nick and I are going to name our kids what we like... I have already compromised enough with naming my first daughter to be... Samantha Rose, b/c of a family thing for them...

Date: 2006-04-16 02:02 pm (UTC)I will probably get stick from my family about name choices. My parents are quite conservative and Dad often whinges about 'forgein' names. Doesn't bother me because hey I don't think their taste in names* is too hot either.
Oh and my brother is expert at finding teasing nicknames, told him I love the name River and his response was 'is his middle name going to be Nile?'.
That and they don't really care much, so it's really too much like hard work getting more than 'it's OK'.
So shall leave it a nice suprise :)
*Well the boys names aren't too bad, very handsome classic names; which I love as mns but would personally pair them with unusual fns. As for girls names; trendy/dated fns + oddly spelt mns = ugh

Then I accidently slipped the middlename *slaps forehead*

Date: 2006-04-17 07:15 am (UTC)Though in a recent survey i read in a magazine (not sure how reliable this is because... (dont believe everything you read in a magazine!) it said the most popular names adopted by strippers are Amber & Sabrina.
If you wait until the baby is named unti you tell everyone then they HAVE to be nice about it...
My name wasnt decided on until after i was born & my grandmother has always said if she had known i was to be called Sophy she would have tried to change their minds, but knowing me now she loves it.
