I have a friend named Christopher "Chris" Jerome.

His younger brother goes by T.J. Can't recall what the T stands for, the J is Jerome. Just like his middle name. Its also his father's name.

I personally think using it once is a nice tribute/honor to the father, but to use it again is a bit of an overkill. Thoughts on this?

Also Chris says his name was originally Jerome Christopher and he was called J.C however his grandmother didn't like the J.C because of Jesus Christ. So it was changed. I think Christopher Jerome sounds better anyways.

My mother, my 2 sisters and I all have the same middle name, as does my cousin. I often discuss my parents lack of originality with them. Basically when I was born (I'm the middle) they had so much trouble with my middle name that they couldn't think of anything else and when my younger sister was born they didn't want to give her something different to their other two daughters.

Christopher Jerome is much nicer and I'm happy that they didn't call both their sons initials.

I really think there are enough names (family tradition or not) that siblings can have their own.

Maybe the second son could have taken the father's middle name?

I much prefer Christophr Jerome as I really like the name Christopher.

My brother's names are Jeffery Cameron and Cameron Gary.

Cameron is an important family name on my Dad's side.

My dad's name is Gary Kenneth, and HIS father's name is Kenneth Ian. AND I have a cousin named Ian Cameron.

Anyhow my point was that if it is meaningful, I don't consider it to be overkill.

I know a family, and they all have the same second middle name; it's their mom's maiden name, so instead of having a hyphenated last name, they just made it all of their second middle names.

My opinion changes on it, I guess. I don't really see the need in honoring the same person more than once. It was an honor the first time, I think that's enough.

I usually have an issue with repeating names within a generation. Sharing the mother's maiden name is the one I don't have a problem with.

My dad's first name is James. His dad is named James. His step-dad? James. His half-brother? Adam James. My middle name is LeeAnne, for both of my grandmothers. My mom's middle name? Anne. Her mom's first name? Anne. My cousin's middle name? Anne.

I find it more amusing than anything else, really.

I love JC and would definitely use it. Name would be Jason Clark for me.

I also like CJ, and Christopher is a good, strong name.
