New baby

A family friend has just had a little girl, and named her Ellison. She has a middle name, but my mother didn't know what it was.

I would have said I didn't like it before I saw the baby, who is just the cutest thing in the world and does kinda look like an Ellie, in as much as a newborn can...So yeah, I'm reserving judgement. Maybe until I meet her and hear what her MN is.

I saw someone mention that here not long ago. I kind of like it. I've always liked Ellis and Allison for a girl, so why not Ellison?

To me, Ellison is a surname. I've only ever heard it as a surname, so it's a little weird to look at is a first name.

I think it's unfortunate, because people will always hear 'Allison' instead, write down 'Allison', and she'll always have to correct them.

my sister's name is allison, so it looks weird to me, but it's not entirely awful. it sounds nice.
