[identity profile] sharon20lostie.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Books of baby names are so yesterday. Jason Morrison is running an online "name our baby" poll instead.

Morrison, a Google staffer in California, is soliciting votes from the public on what to name his baby, who is due Nov. 16.

"It started as a little bit of a joke," said Morrison, 29. "We [he and his wife, Ann] came up with a short list - but we were having a hard time narrowing it down."

More than 2,000 people have voted in the month since he launched the poll.

Olivia is leading among the choices for a girl's name. Dylan has gotten the most votes for a boy's name, but Nikolas, Levi and Isaac are close behind.

The couple cooked up the poll as a way to get input on baby-naming from family members and friends they left behind when they moved to California from Cleveland in January.

Well, voting on babynames isn't really that big a deal anymore, but I love that he put so much work into it, with charts and all! ;)

I voted Cassia & Dylan. Just because I like those names best!

I don't know; I mean obviously in this community, we vote on name lists all the time. But if they actually listen to whatever the poll says, I think that that's kind of dumb. I voted for Levi, and wrote in Alexandra.

Yeah, nothing new to the likes of us here, and it's even less of a story since they aren't even necessarily going to go with the name that wins.

Where is the original article that you posted the text of here?

(I voted for Alexandria and Eric.)

I like their naming style; it's similar to my own. I voted for Athena and Isaac.

I voted for Ada and Dylan :>) I liked almost all of their names but I think those two go well with their last name.

I voted for Erin and Dylan.
I liked almost all of their names though.

It doesn't seem like such a big thing.. Just getting other peoples opinions and doesn't mean they'll actually use the names with the most votes..

I voted for Alexandria and Levi. Levi is actually a favorite name of mine, but I didn't like any of the girl names so I just had to go with a name I sort of like.
