A character in the book I'm currently reading:
Wyndham (m)
Would you say this Wind-ham, or Wind-umm (as in Graham?) Do you like it? I've never heard of it before and am not so down, at all.


Also, my mom's coworker just had twin girls:

Mom's name is Evelyn (Eve) and dad's name is Adam.

Eden Paradise and Haven Jardene

"Jardene" (har-dee-nay) means garden in French. It's highly possible I spelled that wrong, as I never took French and didn't bother to ask how it was spelled.

The little girls join big brothers Matthew and Jack.

Garden in French would be "jardin", but the problem is that it's pronounced (french J) Jahr-DEN, so nowhere near what they're doing.

Eden Paradise is seriously overdone, and poor Haven...

Wyndham = WIN-dum to me. I do not like it.

Heh, agreed. And further more, the "e" at the end would only be an "ay" if it's got the accent mark; "é".

I will admit that Jardené is prettier than just Jardene. One looks exotic and the other looks misspelled.

I would probably say it as in Graham. That's how I read it when I saw it. I've heard it as a surname before.

Adam, Eve and Eden is horrible. It's awful. I just don't know how you could do, let alone giving Eden the middle name Paradise. Gah. Haven just isn't a good name, and I really don't think that that is the correct pronunciation of Jardene. Especially since 'garden' in French is 'jardin'.

windham, maine is the town my best friend lives in. and windham is also a ski area near where i live. so, its quite odd to me as a persons name.

I would say Wind-um, but I think the difference is a Baz-il/Bay-zil thing. It's all in where you grew up and the dialect around you.

Hmm, as everyone else said, not the correct pronunciation on jardin. All I could think is that they might have spelled it "Jardine" and then used the Spanish pronunciation, instead--only "garden" in Spanish is also spelled jardin, with no -ay sound at the end. Very strange.

Jardin is pronounced just like it's spelled, except with a soft J. I think Eden and Haven is a little much, although they aren't terrible either.
