do you consider harper to be a name for a girl or a boy?

and...
i know they're fairly different, but amelia or eleanor?

girl, but i guess it would work either way. i think i only feel like it's a girls name because people use it for nell harper lee, a woman.

i like amelia and eleanor, but i think i like amelia slightly more.

Because of Harper Lee, I consider it a girls name. I could see also though, how it could be used as a boys name, if it was a family name, or had special meaning to the family. Maybe moreso a middle name for a boy.

Eleanor, all the way.

Obviously it's a nice boy's name but I ADORE it for a girl!

I think of Harper for a girl...but it would work on a boy, too IMO. I like Amelia better but only slightly Eleanor has good nn potential. ;)

Harper is a girl's name to me (although not one that I like very much).

And I love both Amelia and Eleanor, but if I had to pick, I'd go with Amelia. Only because I've liked it longer haha.

Harper = girl's name

And Eleanor over Amelia. I prefer it spelled Elinor, though.

I am reminded both of Harper Lee and Harper Simon, so I believe it is a very gender neutral name.

Harper, girl's name

Amelia, because that is what I'm naming my baby :-D

Eleanor WAS my first choice, but Amelia is RAPIDLY becoming my favorite. So I can't choose between the two. If I had to, I guess I'd chose Amelia this very moment.

Harper is a neutral name, but it sounds somehow more masculine to me when I say it aloud.

I think of Harper as a girl's name, but I could probably get used to it on a boy because it isn't overly feminine.

I like both Eleanor and Amelia, but I like Eleanor a little better.

Girl.

Not a fan of either, but Amelia.

I consider Harper a last name and should be kept as such, but if someone used it for naming a child, it'd clearly masculine. Just because some girls were given it as their name, doesn't make it feminine far as I'm concerned.

And I think Eleanor is better because Amelia is well "A-meal-ya". I hate names that can easily be twisted to phrases or words, especially in a not so nice way.

I always pronounce Amelia "A-Mee-Lee-uh". Not sure if one way is 'proper' or whatever; I personally like it my way but not "a-meal-ya"...

Yeah it can probably be prn. both ways, I just heard it prn. "A-meal-ya" more, still "A-mee-lee-uh" isn't that far off, so it doesn't change my dislike of it. =/

I know a boy Harper so it has always seemed masculine to me.

I consider it for a boy, but the only Harpers I've ever known have been girls.

I prefer Amelia.

Our of Eleanor and Amelia I'd pick Amelia.

Amelia.

Eleanor. Pronounced EEL-yah-nor

I completely agree with the first two comments on this post: Harper is a girl's name, because I think most people use it for Harper Lee.

Eleanor. That's not really my favourite spelling of it, but just the name, I like more. I don't really like Amelia at all.

Neither, it's a last name.

I love both Amelia and Eleanor, so I can't choose.

I agree that Harper is a last name..I don't like the name used as a first name for boy or girl...thats just my opinion

I like both names. I like Amelia better(pronounce A-mee-lee-ah), but I like Eleanor because I LOVE the nn Ella...so i can't decide...

harper = girl

i love both amelia and eleanor, but i think i would personally go with eleanor because i prefer the nickname ella to anything that could come out of amelia.

I like Harper for a girl. Because it makes me think of Harper Lee, and there's also a character on that Disney show "The Wizards of Waverly Place," and her name is Harper.

Not a big fan of either, but if I had to use one, I'd pick Eleanor. And I'd only use it as a middle name. Though I like Ella/Ellie.
