I'm sure it has been done before, but I haven't seen it...

What would you have been named if you had been the opposite sex? What is your name now? Do you like the name your parents chose for the opposite sex, or are you glad you ended up with the name you have now?

I am Natasha Cecelia. I would have been Nicholas Peregrine if I had been a boy--I like it okay, but I'm glad I got the name I have now.

I would have been Sean/Shaun. I quite like that name.

I'm Melissa Elizabeth. I love my name, but it just screams "80's baby."

I'm Karlie Marie. I would have been Brian Neil. I love the name Brian (it's actually on my list) but I hate how it ends with the same letter Neil starts with. That would have bugged me.

I'm Claire Louise.
The other girls names my parents had in mind were Olivia, April, Elizabeth.

If I were a boy:
Jeffery Cameron
Cameron Gary

Those are my brother's names though, since I was the first child I figure I would have been named that if I wasn't a girl.

I'm Jennifer Leigh (1978). If I were a boy, I would have been Shane Ryan.

I love the boy name my parents had for me, and I wouldn't have minded them naming me Shane Ryan even as a girl.

My mom tells me that I would have been a Michael. My name is Hilary Renee. I like it, mostly because its not terribly common, but its also a mutation of both my aunt's name and my grandmother's names. :) I think Michael is a bit too common for me, and it would have been odd because my stepfather's name is Michael. Lol!

I love Claire. My mom's middle name is Claire and I'm pretty sure I'll pass it on to my future kidlets.

I'm not sure what I would have been if I were a boy. I do know my husband Adam would have been an April if he was a girl. Interestingly enough, before his parents settled on the name Adam, they were also considering Quentin and Jedidiah. (I'm glad they stuck with Adam...)

I was supposed to be Lauren Elysia -girl or Christopher (something)-boy.
When I was born there were 5 other Laurens in the hospital, so I got called Christine, Elysia didn't sound right with Christine, so my middle name became Marie.
I'm glad I wasn't called Lauren, but I'm not really a fan of my name or the name Christopher. everyone calls me Chrissy, my real name seems almost alien when someone uses it. I like my middle name though.

I really wish I had been given the name Elysia still, it's my paternal grandmother's name and she recently passed away. I love the name and If I have another girl, I will probably use it.

I'm Molly and if I was a boy I would've been named Kevin. I like both names okay. I guess I like Molly more because it's an actual family name.

I would have been Elijah Van. It's definitely not a bad name, even if there are hundreds of Elijahs my age. Since I turned out to be a girl (a total surprise to my parents, haha), my name is Samaria Sari.

My name is Briana Ashley (1988), and if i was a boy I would have been... Ednecott, she really didn't want me to be a boy (and would give me a horrible name to make sure i was a girl or something stupid).
my sister is Caleigh Arianne, and she would have been Restin if she was a boy.

My name is Stephanie. My parents have always said they were really glad I'm a girl, because they *could not* agree on a boy's name. The other name they were considering for me was Heather, which I've never liked very much.

If I had been a boy (and at the moment I honestly wish I HAD been...evil cramps...) I would have been James Daniel.

My parents were also thinking about the names Julia and Cymru (they probably would have spelled it differently, seeing as nobody would be able to pronounce it unless they were Welsh) for a girl. But my mom says that they didn't think of that one until after I was born, so they were actually considering it for my brother, until he came out...male. I actually think Melissa and Cymru would be a terrible sib-set, come to think of it. Maybe it's a good thing he wasn't a girl! :o) I really wanted a sister, though.

But anyway. They ended up naming me Melissa Laura. Don't like it...never have. I think Cymru would have been awesome, and I'm so sad they thought of it too late, haha.

My name is Silja Adelita and if I had been a boy I would have been Veikko. I'm so glad that I turned out to be a girl :D I got my first name because that was basically the only name my parents would agree on. My mum wanted to name me Vappu (that's the name of first of May here in Finland) and my dad wanted to name me Olga (that's a Russian name that I really don't like). And my second name I got after a song.

I do not like the name Veikko. It's an oldish slang word for a chap and it's also a diminutive of Veli which means brother in Finnish. My uncle's name is Veli so I guess that's why my parents wanted to name me Veikko, to honor my uncle. My brother's name is Pauli Eerik (he's younger than me) and he's named after my other uncle who died a year before my brother was born.

My name is Megan Michele. If I would've been a boy, I would've been Kyle Evan. My parents were also considering Tyler and Cameron. They never ended up using any of those (my brothers are Brandon and Eric) but they did use Evan as a middle name.

My name is fine, I guess. Boring, though. I asked my mom why she didn't name me Margaret and nickname me Megan and she said she almost did but changed her mind. I got really annoyed. I've never really liked my name and I've always wished I had something a bit more formal that fit me better. I don't feel like a Megan 95% of the time.

I'm Kristin Ann, i would've been Paul Edward, and YES i'm VERY glad i was a girl so i could have the girl name XD I was supposed to be Ashley Ann but my parents had been referring to me as Kristin for so long that when they decided last minute to change it to Ashley they actually forgot when i was born :P

My little sister is Jessica Ashley, and she would've been Matthew Ryan if she was a boy.

I'd have been Richard.
I love the name, on it's own merits and the associations. But it really suits my younger brother perfectly, and then I get to use it honouring him, so it's ok.

My given first name I'm not crazy about*. There's nothing inherently wrong with the name itself; it just doesn't feel like me. But then all their other choices were like that, and they'd have never chosen anything that was my style, so same diffrence.
I do love my mn Clair though; it's after my elder cousin (Claire), but spelt so it's 'mine'. The spelling used to bother me, but I like it now. Good story/meaning behind it, and in a way it is mine. In the sense people don't have the existing ideas they do of Claire/Clare.

*I'm not sharing, but it's an established stand alone nickname from a root name [e.g. Katie]. Ironically of the dozen or more variations it's the only one I don't like (well there is another, but it's my awful great aunt's name so that was always out).
