Unlike many others (I've discovered) meanings mean A LOT to me. A lot a lot. Anyway, I'm starting to like the name Audra, and the meaning is "storm", and I can't decide whether that's, well, a good thing or a bad thing.
I guess storm is kind of cool, but storms are usually associated with unhappiness, anger, blahblahblah.
WDYT about it?

Hee, I am definitely one of those who don't care about meanings, but I think that Audra is a pretty name, and 'storm' really isn't that bad of a meaning. To me, it just gives off the air of strength, nothing particularly negative about it.

I care about meanings a lot, too. I like the name audra.

I also like rainstorms. I did know a girl named Stormy. She went to the preschool I taught at and I really could did not like her attitude. But stormy sounds a lot more negative than Audra. This little girl was very negative and mean to the other kids. She also tried to be sexy all the time like her older sister!

I'd say audra sounds a lot more positive and it is very pretty. Perhaps you should pair it with a name that means something obvious positive and then her name will mean a kind of positive or beautiful force of nature.

I like it, both the name and the meaning. As a name, I associate it with strength and energy, not with its possible negative connotations you've mentioned.

I just wouldn't use it for a child who was born during a storm hehe.

I think that is probably true, but I think the most common meaning is "noble strength"-- most places only have that meaning, and not storm.

Storms can mean different things to different people. To some it's a distaster, to others it's awesome, and to some it's a matter of re-birth and new beginnings after it's passed.

I personally think it's a very unique name and meaning for each person.
