How do you feel about 'matching' twin/triplet/etc names, or even just 'matching' sibling names?

Personally, I think it's just overly cutesy and...blegh. Not for me at all.

I was watching a show on Discovery Health about a family with SIXTEEN children, and all of their names start with 'J'! Poor things started running out of names, there's a girl named Jinger, pronounced Ginger.

Yeah, that's a little bit out of control. I think it's nice for each child to have his/her own unique initials, but that is just my very humble opinion.

I am a product of a mom who wanted all "A" and she had 3 kids. She still gets my name confused with my brothers'....that A thing ended up throwing her off.

I married a product of a mom who wanted all "C" (including the dogs) and SHE still gets her kids/pets names confused...so the all C thing ended up throwing HER off.

I don't want to do one letter. I have 26 to choose from (unless I eliminate U, O, V which I will do) then I have 23 nice letters to choose from. Why limit myself?

hm. I usually agree with omitting those letters, but...

ever think of the name Victoria? It is the only feminine V name i have ever liked. :)

i personally don't really like it. there's a family at my church that are all Ks INCLUDING their last name. I don't remember all their names but for example the parents are Kevin and Karen Klein and then their daughters are Kendra and Kailey. ugh.

what i hate more though, are sibling names that rhyme. tara and sara, tracy and stacy..i really hate that.

I know a family with Katrina (mom), Kaleighna, Kendra, Kloee, and Klara!

They're all drop-dead gorgeous (Kaleighna,12, and Kendra,8, have been approached for modeling already!!), but I really don't like the spelling of Kloee and don't like the name Klara. :)

Oh I saw that! Jinger looks odd. I would think that having all J names would make it more confusing.

I see both sides, My brother and I both have J names but theyre diffrent enuf that its not a horrible thing -stereotypical maybe (Jennifer and Jason)
I'm kinda a fan but not to a HUGE degree I think it's nice to have 'matches' but not extreme like what if i wanted their names to all end in an 'ah' sound...would Emma, Ella, Joshua, Liliana, Kalina and Ariana be so bad? but i can see how it gets annoying, and out of hand

i'm not a huge fan, but sometimes it's not so bad..like if a family has three kids that all have m names or something.

My parents both have J-names, Jim and Jenni. They loved the names Jill and Julie and chose Julie. When my mom got pregnant again, they all assumed they were trying to be cute and would name the next kid a J-name. I have two little brothers who are named Danny and Andy. I would loathe my parents if all five of us had the same letter. Like my mom's sibling Jim. His wife is Joyce and the kids are Jarre, John and Jodi.

I did like my parents having the same initials as me. My dad and I are both JAMs in fact. When I was in band, we had to do practice sheets. It wanted parent initials to verify we had practiced but it just said 'initials'. So naturally I signed my initials, which just so happened to be my dad's initials. I was so evil.

Some people have commented on how they always got mixed up with their siblings because they had names starting with the same letter... my sister (Shana) and I have very different names but my mom STILL gets us mixed up... I think it's just something that's bound to happen with siblings.

I personally am aganist 'matching' names. If I had twins I'd want their names to start with the same letter, but very different names... I've always though twins shared a unique bond and it's nice to show that a bit in their names... (twins I know: Alysha & Andrea, Kristen & Kaitlyn, Jaclyn & Jolene ... I think all those combos are different enough that that they have their own name).

I babysat for a family that was ALL 'J' names. The mom & dad were Jack & Janice, and I mean, awesome, you have the same initial, let's leave it at that... but no, these are their kids: Joey, Jenny & Jesse... TOO MUCH.

I saw that too! ugh all the "j" names made me want to vomit after the umpteenth time they were said......and MY name starts with a "j" as well.

I like the matching name thing as long as it doesn't get to carried away. I knew twins at my school name Jerico and Jermain, Selena and Celest and there was Maya and Magaline. Kind of matchy but not vomit matching.

As a (fraternal!) twin, I got mistaken for my sister enough without matchy names - I can't imagine what it would have been like if our names were Tracy and Stacy or something. Kids may come in "sets" biologically, but that doesn't mean you get to name them like accessories. Give them good strong names individually. If you need a matching set of something, buy some napkins or new patio furniture.

my husband: Christopher Paul. His twin: Richard Michael.

And they are pukingly identical. :-p

I mean, identical to the point where, to prove to my mother in law how much our second son looked like daddy, I said "He looks so much like chris that he puts richard to shame". (which is completely true!), and she was just like..."wow".

I totally agree! I'm a twin, too, and I hate matching names. Even when they just start with the same letter. Still not "different" enough for me. My name is Kari and my sister's is Kristen, so while our names don't rhyme or anything horrid like that, I still think the matchyness of the K's is way too cutesy.

We're all Cs in my family, but I'm Charlotte and she's Christine, so they are Cs without being TOO matched... but we've got a brother Christopher, and Christine and Christopher are definitel too matched. Good thing they weren't the twins, I guess!

i don't mind when twins/triplets, etc have names that start with the same letter, but i think rhyming names goes way overboard.

we all have l names in my family. my mom is laurie and my older sister is leslie. my mom really wanted to name me richelle, but my dad insisted on leah, and they divorced so it was just us 3 and all l's. it's kind of annoying, and i've been called leslie by so many people.

we have family friends that are all m's: michael, melanie, mindy, molly and mj.

my father had the bright idea to make us all c's. my parents are chris and colleen. my brother and i? chris jr. and carrie. i have the same middle name as my mother, so the male initials are COB and the female initials are CMB. i never thought it was excessive since my dad split when i was young, so it was only the three of us. i think it was the thing to do in the 70s or something.

I do enjoy playing with themes and such in the abstract (for story characters and such) but probably wouldn't do it IRL. Unless it was something really very subtle or general ['Celtic' first names, family names as middle names etc].
Know that if I started that I couldn't break it (yeah it's a weird OCD thing) so best not to go there. Wouldn't want to limit myself, and my tastes are all over the place.

Have been called my sibling's name, and vice versa, on various occasions. Get the feelings it's inevitable. We're opposite genders for a start, and our names aren't particually similiar either [Sage/'lise' & Richard]. He does answer to Rich though, which sort of makes for a theme (four letter words, and the reverse alphabet thing). Which is nice, but would probably be overkill if there were more of us [and we'd be screwed because there aren't any neat four letter name/words starting with Q or T... see told you I was obsessive :)].

I was just worrying about this the other day, I already have a son named Corbin, we are going to start for another soon, and if it's a girl, we have a "C" named picked out, but it's just coincidental. We want to have 2 more, a boy and girl, the boy name we have picked out starts with a "T". I've had someone tell me before that it would be silly to do that, since 2 would have the same letter, and one would be different. They said something about it looking like that kid was just an afterthought, or not important enough to also have "C" name. At first I thought that was retarded, but I've been kinda worrying about it, wondering if I should ditch the "C" name for a girl, which I would hate to do because I *LOVE* the name.

I once kinda knew this family, Kolleen, Kassie, Katie, Keith... I forget the other boy's name. but yeah, half of those should start with c. their last name began with k. mom's name was kathy. not sure about the dad's. too much if you ask me.

I don't like the 'matching names'/rhyming names for twins thing.. 'Josie & Joseph/Zoe & Chloe'
But i don't mind names that start with the same letter for siblings at all.
Infact, if i had another daughter there is a pretty strong chance that I would be guilty of that crime!

Ameila & (possibly)Anabelle
I'd give them different middle names though, that would just get too confusing..
If I had twins i probably wouldnt use the same letters thuogh, what with being in the same year at school (especially if they were identical) it would get confusing.

My aunt's family has a "J" theme: Janet, Jim, Jill, and Judy. They even named their pets "J" names!

I have an identical twin sister. Actually, she is "hitzpink" who already posted. I gotta say I'm a little offended she said our names are pukey, lol. I'm Kristen, she is Kari. I think they're different enough, I'm not bothered by them both starting with K. But I agree an entire FAMILY with a K name would be over the top. Or twins with rhyming names.
