Sep. 30th, 2008 01:46 pmwhat do you guys think of caitlin?
i'm 19 so i've known A LOT of caitlins and i never liked it much, but i like that it's an irish form of catherine/katherine, which is easily my favorite name for girls. my boyfriend is not a fan of katherine, he feels like it sounds too old for a baby, but i think i could get him to agree on caitlin, and we're both at least partly irish (i'm over 50% irish), so i'm not worried about that.
my only qualm is, to you, does it sound too much like a little kid? i love the nickname cate so i'd probably call her by that, but the name still seems so new. like i've never met anyone more than a few years older than me named caitlin, and although it has a classic appeal that i like because of catherine, i'm still worried that it's trendy and easily dated.
