[identity profile] classiestkid.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Update: In an appearance this morning on The Early Show, the Duggar family revealed that the new baby is a girl. Not surprisingly, they also shared that they will continue on the name theme, meaning their new daughter will have a 'J' moniker as well.

Their new reality series, 17 Kids and Counting, premieres tonight on TLC at 10 p.m.

Originally posted May 9th: Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who became well known after a series of documentary television shows on TLC and Discovery Health, announced this morning on the Today show that they are pregnant with their 18th child. Michelle, 41, is currently six weeks along in her pregnancy and due on New Year's Day. Michelle joked,

We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us.

They should go with Juliet. Bet they'll go with something vile though.

If she's 6 weeks how does she know it's a girl? Or am I reading that wrong?

She is due the same day as me. This is an old article since I am almost 27 weeks!

I think that must be a misprint, as it says she's due New Year's Day.

she should name the kid january at this point. though i think julia, jessica or jane would be more likely. seeing as they have no issue w/ naming the kids very similar names *cough*joy-anna/johannah*cough*, i think jessa/janna might have a little mini-me come birthin' time.

eta: january because of the due date. and the probability that she'll deliver in january. though that is a bit cliché. then again, so is naming 18 children w/ the same first letter.

eta2: i promise this is the last one, i was just re-reading the post and noticed this: We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us.

no, i'd say march-april is a busy time for you. :-)

The oldest boy, Joshua I guess, just got married the 26th to a girl named Anna. They moved into the family house.

and at the baby shower some sweet soul out there could give these people a computer and an internet connection... or a box or two of condoms... now that I got that off my chest... Jinger?? Joy-Anna and Johannah? I am cheesy and love starting the names with the same letters for brothers and sisters but not the SAME name. I do like some names here but seriously... there are other things one can do with your time other than making babies....

I'm a little miffed that she used named like Jinger when there are still perfectly good J names *cough*Julianne*cough*

And agree that Joy-Anna and Johannah are practically the same name.

I saw a commercial on TLC? I think... They're getting their own weekly show. I kind of can't wait to see what kind of batshit this produces.

Poor Jinger. Poor, poor Jinger. I still don't understand how they got Jinger before Jennifer.

Wow, I can't even believe I just said that.

I pronounce them differently: To me, Johannah is Joe-HANN-ah and Joy-Anna is just that: Joy + Anna.

I agree that they're very close, though.

Jeremiah Robert and Jedidiah Robert are way worse than Joy-Anna and Johannah, you guys. =/

This family disturbs the hell out of me. Who knows what they'll come up with for the name. They haven't managed to use ANY of the J-names I like, and I like a bunch of J-names. For girls I really love Julianne, Juliet, Jocelyn, Jean and Jane. But I doubt they'll use any of those.

If Joshua starts having litters of kids with J-names, too, I'm going to seriously puke.

I agree with everyone else: I don't like Jinger either. Pffsht.

I bet they will use Julia or Juliet next. Or Jemma? If they can use Jinger, they can use Jemma, too.

wow. They have got to stop.

I know!

And it wasn't even as though they had exhausted all the possibilities for real 'J' names before that! It would still be unforgivable to name the kid Jinger, but it's even worse when there are perfectly normal names that follow her.

This is exactly what I think. Especially when so many of the other names are biblical, she really stands out.
