Per an agreement, if I have a boy the middle name will be James, but I plan on ignoring the firt name, and calling the baby Jay. Do you think its essential to then put a Y in James? Jaymes? or is that stupid?
Hah, any suggestions? Do you think it matters if there is a Y in the name, if its going to be in the nickname? Im not sure Jay is a real common nickname for James.
Thanks !!

Why not just name him Jay? I have an uncle named Jay. Or, why not just name him James?

I have a cousin named James who goes by Jay, so I don't think it really matters. It's up to you!

I think it would look much better as James than Jaymes. I don't think you need the Y in there, I know people who use the nickname Jay for any J-name, John, Joseph, Jebediah, etc. Plus, since it's the middle name, his name will usually look like David J. Lastname (or whatever) so it will be a "jay" that way, without spelling Jaymes 'uneek'ly.

My dad's name is Jay, not short for anything. My ex's father's name was James but they called him Jimmy and occasionally Jay. And her brother's name was Jason and they called him Jay. And it wasn't like it was spelled Jayson or anything, so I don't think it matters at all. Just do whatever you want. =D

How about a name like "Jayce" or "Jace" ... I think it's a interesting version of the common James/Jason...

If you're sticking with James, I wouldn't put a 'y' in there...

My sisters middle name is Jae and my best guy friend's middle name is Jay.

I like James as is, however if you want it to look 'trendy' or 'unique' that's when you'd add the J.

As others have said, it's quite common for anyone with a J-name to be nicknamed "Jay" - we have a girl in our youth group "Jaala" who goes by "Jay".

My brother is James and his nickname is JJ, for no apparent reason. I know a Josiah who goes by Jay; as everyone else says, you can use the nickname Jay with any J-name spelled in its original form.

No no, don't spell it Jaymes!! I love Jay as a nickname for James..

What will the first name be? & why can't you just call the baby James (Jay) *middle name that was the first name but will be ignored* *surname*

Please don't put a "y" in James. Jaymes looks really stupid.
