(no subject)

So I reread To Kill a Mockingbird last night (one of my favorite books of alllll time), and I really like the name Atticus.

WDYT of it...for a boy? (Not sure if it'd work for a girl, but I think it could be good for a boy.)

Thoughts?

I ALWAYS think of his dogs.

Lol I don't even know why I remember because I'm not even a fan of his or anything. I just remember seeing it in a tabloid one time and the dogs being cuties.

My cousin Andy named his first boy Atticus because he loved the novel too. It doesn't seem to work. NNs are blah (Atti is fem, tic is weird...). It's cool in theory as said above. But 'played out' notsomuch.

I totally plan on using it but I have trouble finding middle names that flow well. But Atticus does work well as a middle name.

Ha, no one is going to associate it with Jake Gyllenhall's dog. It's a great name.

i like it, but only on a boy.

It's not even considerable for a girl. It's fine for a boy...if it's a bit TOO out there, it sounds great as a middle name.

It's one of those...I like it and would NEVER use it, but I'd be in awe of someone who did.

I'm all for naming kids after characters from books, but it just seems like everyone wants to name their kid Atticus. And it definitely wouldn't work on a girl.

i like it for a boy.

but whenever i hear it i automatically think of the clothing company. :S

I love literary names, and Atticus is a great one, imo.

This question and name have been done to DEATH.
It's like To Kill a Mockingbird is the only novel anyone remotely literate has read :-/

IAWTC. particularly about this name being done to death in this community.

we should have a TKAM tag in this community. lol

Everybody just needs to agree with this comment because it is so true.

Honestly, I like the name, but I would never use it as a first name because it screams "oooh, look at me, I read literary classics and I'm awesome." Idk, just a little pretentious in my opinion. :\

I think it would make a great middle name.

I love Atticus, and in case everyone comments telling you to read a new book: I am an English major in college and have read many, many, many books and it's still one of my favorites.

it's getting too common for me to ever use.

I actually really like the name but it's been SO OVERDONE. I'd use it as a middle name. And for a boy only.
