If I ever have kids, I think I want to name my daughter Leanne. Y/N?

The only bad part about it is that I'm naming my kid after a current Project Runway designer.

my friends moms name is leanne and a few months ago we were talking about baby names and she said she hates her name a lot.

My first thought was Leanne Rimes.
I don't watch project runway, but the shelflife of anyone on reality tv is usually pretty short. In 5 years I bet it won't be on most people's radar.

I don't like it. It just sounds so...country.

One of my favorite people in the world who I don't keep in touch with is named Leanne, and she kicks butt. I think it's a nice name.

OHAI. XP

If you're naming the child AFTER the PR star, I would probably ask you why you felt like you needed to honor this person. But just because you're using a name that happens to be shared by this designer doesn't mean it's "after" them. My name is Katie, as you know, and I for sure was not named after Katie Holmes.

If you just happen to like the name that happens to belong to this designer, I see no problem with it. But yeah, I might raise an eyebrow if you were specifically naming a child after this person because, um, yeah. =P As to the name itself, I'm neutral on it. It's a bit "country," yes, but as a southerner, I don't mind that, and it could be worse with regard to hick-ish names. I like that spelling.

Suggestions:

Marnie
Julianne
Deana
Jean
Tisa
Evette
Jodi(e)
Dina
Leah
Renee
Daphne
Laurel
Colette
Alexis
Jacqueline

I kinda prefer Leeanna, but I would never use it now because I have an annoying co-worker with that name.

leanne from project runway rocks my socks. love her.

but would you actually be naming your child after her? if it just so happens that she will have the same name, dont sweat it. no one will remember her six months from now.

not a huge fan of the name, i think leah is nicer.

No.

I think it's dated but also kind of trashy.
It doesn't have an ounce of sophistication, but I guess it's not in the same league as Stacey or Brandy.

Aww, I don't mind Stacy as a nn for Anastasia.

I kind of like it. Here it would be pronounced like Lay-ah-neh, I like that better.

I don't think anyone will associate the name Leanne with a Project Runway designer.

I have a good friend named Leanne, and she's 40. I think the name works for any age.

My mother's name was Lei Ann (pronounced the same, of course). She never liked her name - thought it sounded too "backwoods", but I never minded it.
