[identity profile] ifancylust.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
i guess my last post stirred up a little controversy, as well as difference of opinion..which is expected and accepted. i made another list just because it seemed like a lot of people participated. some people thought the spellings i provided for some names were kind of outrageous. the only reason why i used those spellings as alternative spellings (example: eoin or owen), is because i've seen them used before on people i grew up with, currently know, etc. so if you're wondering why i used certain spellings again this time, it's only because i've seen the names spelled like that. shrug. people also pronounce names differently, obviously..since we all live in different places and were raised in different ways..but let's just assume the following names are pronounced the same way. i just want to know what spelling you prefer. hope this doesn't cause trouble. if you guys want me to quit with these posts, let me know. :) ♥

This is kind of fun. It's a good procrastination tool!

adrian or adrien
alexandra or alixandra
amelia or emelia
aviva or avivah
bre, bree or brie... hmmm that might be b/c of desperate housewives
brian or bryan... i don't really like the name brian/bryan. sorry lol
cacee, casey or kasey
candace or candice
carissa or karissa
christi, christie, christy, kristi or kristy
devin or devon
dillon or dylan....dillon is more of a last name to me (i.e. matt dillon)
eliot or elliot
eric, erick or erik
erica, ericka or erika
gillian or jillian
gray or grey
hailey, haley or haylie
hanna or hannah... i like this one both ways, i guess i like "hanna" better
iain or ian
jacob or jakob
jaime, jamie, jamey or jayme... i have a friend who spells it this way and i love it so much more than the overly common jamie
jennifer or jennipher
joanna or johanna
julian or julien
kelle, kelley, kelli, kellie or kelly... not a big fan of the name though
laura or lora
lenin or lennon
maia, maya or mya
margaret or margrette
margo, margot or margaux... DEFINITELY!
maura or moira
megan or meghan:
neal or neil
rebecca or rebekah
rene or renee... rene for a boy, renee for a girl (as it should be, according to the French language)
sascha or sasha
stefanie or stephanie
zachary or zackary

I guess in general i'm mmore about the traditional spellings that are just less complicated. generally speaking, the less letters the better.
