[identity profile] cremepuff.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I saw an article about a couple who had a baby and named him in honor of his late grandfather George. But they didn't give him the same exact name. His name is:

Geordan.

WDYT? I don't like it. It's obviously pronounced like "Jordan," and it's sweet of them to make his name a tribute, but the spelling just doesn't look right to me. Has anyone else ever seen this name spelled like that before?

It's definately not the most rediculous spelling I've seen and you can definately see how it's pronounced straight up. I don't hate it, but I wouldn't choose it.
I love the name Naomi, it's my aunty's name and she rocks.
Radiant... pretty sure that's a laundry powder.

i don't like it - even though one could argue that the difference between geoffrey and jeffrey would be similar. with the in-memory of part it at least makes sense.

i hate the name jordan, i really do. i dont like the unisex set - jordan, cameron, morgan, i really despise all of them.

and this looks like they smooshed george and dan together. but that said, i kind of like this, because i am a sucker for names with meaning. not that i would ever in a trillion years use such a thing, but i dig the personal-ness of it. and its creative, without being kree8yv.

My brother's middle name is Geordon. George after my grandfather and Don after my great uncle.

It makes me think of Geordie... from Star Trek.

I've seen it before... and while it does look odd to me, it's a lot better than others I've seen (Joredyn, Johrdin, etc). And it has special significance which makes it somewhat better IMO
