In honor of fall...

What do you think of Autumn? For a boy, for a girl (I've seen it used for both), for your kid, for someone ele's...?

Also, some names I heard recently:

Christopher Stewart
Jenniper (not ph, p. Jen-eh-purr)
Janello (f)
Tucker James
Sandra (Sandy) Lynn

ETA: forgot to mention, my cousin (Marc) married a lovely girl (Darcy) who's siblings include Thomas and Bep (f). Nope, it's not a nn; it's her given name. Even the girl doesn't know where it came from. Oh and just because I'm sharing names today, Marc & Darcy's kids: Calen James and Audry (forgot MN sorry).

Autumn on a boy? Wow, I never even considered it. I think that it's rather feminine. I don't think I would ever use it, seeing as how it is my sister's name. So yes, very okay for somebody else's kid (like my parent's kid) just not mine.

I like James. Bep is almost kind of cute. It's not really awful. Calen is okay.

Bep is a very old fashioned Dutch name. I'm almost positive it's a nickname for Elizabeth.

Well, I'm glad you like it...I don't! I suppose it's because it's incredibly old-fashioned here.

& I don't know, I suppose it's like getting Jack out of John...it doesn't make much sense!

Autumn: I love the season, I love the word, I love the name...though only on a girl. I'd consider using it, but since the child's last name would be Brewer, and I don't like the idea of more than one noun in a name, that probably won't happen. Maybe a pet.

i like autumn for a girl, especially when there's a connection to birth month. i've never seen it on a boy but now that you mention it, why not? i picture a sensitive, artsy type in that case.

I like Autumn. I think it could be a unisex name, though the first Autumn I knew was when I was ten, and she was a baby and I was her mother's helper. :) I watched her for a dollar an hour so her mother could do stuff around the house or rest.

I do have a funny story though. With my mom's last pregnancy (which turned out to be a boy, much to her relief...apparently she wasn't at all certain of my ability to...not kill another girl in the family...) my grandmother was harping on names so much so that my mother finally snapped. Our surname was 'Woods' so this is what she finally told my grandmother (her mother) very sweetly as to what she would name the baby if it were a girl.

"If it's a girl Mother, we're going to name her Autumn Leaf Woods."

I don't think my grandmother found her jaw (this was in 1979) until after the baby was born and named Bryce William.

I still giggle.
