When I first got into names and such, I learned that my middle name (Megan) is directly related to my mother's middle name (Margaret), and I thought it'd be a cool idea to continue on the "tradition," when I finally start having kids (I'm quite a few years off from that.)

I was tossing around the idea of May as a mn but it just sounds awkward against my first name choices (Andrea, Charity, Chelsea, Keira, etc.).

So, either a better mn choice for my first names (my namelist) or fn choices that work with the mn May.

Behind the Name's list of names related to Margaret, for reference.

I would prefer for the mn to not sound nicknamey (so Madge and Meg and Peg are out)

Edit: Thoughts on the name Taika?

I think May goes with pretty much everything, except maybe Fay or Kay. It's like Rose or Marie only not as boring and much prettier (although I prefer the spelling Mae).

Taika sounds like a dog's name, no offense.

I like Chelsea May and Keira May, although May is kind of far from Margaret, to me.

How about Pearl (or Perla, italian version) ? That's ultimately what Margaret means.
But I also like Greta, although not along with your first name choices (the styles are too different).

I actually think Andrea, Charity and Keira sound really good with May as a middle name!

If you go with May/Mae, your daughter is going to have to use M as the middle name for her daughter because the names are getting shorter each time ;)

Marjorie
Margot
Marie/Maria
Maggie
Martha
Marna

I think Chelsea May sounds nice--however; I would spell it Mae, but that's just me.

From your first names, I think that Charity probably sounds the best, actually. It's not my style, but I think that it flows well.

Gretchen, Gretel, Greta, Marguerite, Marjorie, Pearl, Daisy, Rhetta, & Rita are all forms of Margaret. May/Mae is nice, but it doesn't have the same meaning as Megan and Margaret though I'm not sure if that's important to you.

Maighread goes with most of them if you don't mind the spelling.
May goes fine with them all aswell.

I have a friend named Diana May. I always liked the sound of it.
