I was hoping it was a bad typo, but unfortunately it was spelled the same everywhere else too.

This is sad... soemthing similar happened to my sis though an it was not my parents' fault either... when they were getting her her birth certificate the lady that wrote down her name spelled it with a 'Y' so technically my sister is Yrene, not Irene, luckily she had it changed...

Probably the mother meant to name her Vanessa but had a cold, so the father didn't hear her right and told the doctor to put Banessa on the birth certificate. Now she is Banessa for life.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
