Also a question. Would you use a first-middle name combo that is really popular? I see so many Lily Maries or Hanna Maries or Haley Maries or Isabella Graces. I can't help but wonder if the parents care about the popularity of the name.
Same with Aiden/Jayden/Caiden etc... If you have one of those do you care that the name is popular? Is that why you chose it? Or maybe you just plain like it.

Just want to say I have a Lillian (Lily) Marie. She is named after my husband's grandmother Lillian and her middle name is most of the girls middle names in his side also. So it is pure family name. With that said when we named her I had no idea it was going to get so popular! I hate that it is everywhere! I would of given her a different middle name at least as I LOVE the name Lillian :)

i live in western mass, in the land of the guthries. they all live here, arlo included. i went to high school with his kids, and i see him around town all the time, so my male connection with the name is pretty strong.

i think if i didnt have that strong connection, i would probably think it was kind of ok on a girl. :)

My daughter is Layla Marie.
Her surname is Chitty, and Marie is a namesake as it was my Nanna's name. Nanna prounounced it like 'starry', but when you say Layla Marie Chitty, Marie sounds better as if it were Maree, not the same as Nanna's.

I personally don't mind that it is so popular, as her name has special significance to me, and she won't often use it anyway :)

Kayelyn, Kayelynn and Kaylynn? Holy crap. I knew a Kailyn back in middle school (early 90s) and thought her name was cool. The butcherings above? Ack.

WHY do people do this to their children???

As a teacher, I'm especially bothered with kre8tive spelling. Hi, let me teach you how to spell words but names you can just make up whatever you want. NO NO NO.

I like:

Gianna
Maya
Faith Ann Marie
Miles Kingston
Wade Allen

I love:
Faye
Evanna

If I were you, I'd step away from all the 'y's and apostrophes. It looks really tacky.

As for the question about popularity...I don't really mind if my favorite names were popular, but I wouldmind if they were in the top 10. Maybe I'd still use the name, but I'd think about it longer because my kid would likely be in class with others that have the same name.

I hate the unnecessarily 'creative' spelling - what's the point? It just looks dumb.

Err one of my BIGGEST pet peeves is the fact that there are so many MN Marie people out there. Bleah! I don't mind the name itself but the fact that it is insanely overplayed, I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

And Anne/Anne. Rose. Grace. Leigh. Faith.

I hate filler middles, too.

I definitely would use a popular combo if I liked it. Popularity is not going to change the fact that I like those names and want to use them. It's not MY fault everyone is finally growing a brain and "classic" names are becoming popular again. ;)

Heck, I'm a Jessica Leigh and I like it so you know I don't give a shit.

nolan ryan (but srsly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nolan_Ryan)?)

i would like oakley and seamus if they were spelled correctly. UGH!

i don't think much about middle names -- for me, they are all family names/names that are important to me, so i just pair them where they sound nice. and i don't really care about popularity, although i do care about trendiness (for example: emily and michael are okay; jayden and madison are not). so, to answer your question, yes i would still use a combo where both names were popular. fortunately, other than michael, almost all the middle names i am going to use are not that popular, so it doesn't matter, but i still would if necessary.

Abernathy, Syncere, Pyerce, and Okley are most unfortunate...

If a middle name is popular or trendy but I like it, I'll probably still use it. Grace, for example--I wouldn't hesitate to use it, I just wouldn't pair it with Emma! Personally I worry more about whether the first name is popular or not. Middle name is not that big of an issue...then again, I say that because my middle name is Marie. :)
