Honestly, I'm not a big fan. Mostly for the same reason I don't like the name Story. There are too many cutesy jokes that the little girl will have to deal with every time she has to say the name.

I don't think it's a good name. I'm not much of a fan of words for names of people, but word names like Faith, and Hope, Charity, are tolerable. Fable however, nah. For one, take away the F and you've got the word able. Two, considering the meaning of the word, in my opinion, naming a child that would be like saying it's a lie, a joke, she's not real, "Hi here is my imaginary child, her name is Fable". It's not the worst I've heard, but it's not the greatest either.

I like word names, but that one doesn't sit right with me. It's not Story, it's not Legend, it's a short tale that's not true, often with a moral message. Maybe I'm being myopic here, but there are so many great names to choose from.

And really, no name is unique unless they are the only one EVER to be named so. I'm pretty sure that there's somebody named Fable, or has been. What fun is it when you find out somebody else has a kid named something you thought unique?
