Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse with the Jaiden/Jayden/Jaden/etc crap.....

Celebrating his first birthday is J'den Mulkerrin, son of Karen Mong and Joe Mulkerrin of Seneca.

IAWTC

This name reminded me of a name of someone I knew on AOL 10 years ago.. JThomas. Pronounced JayThomas. I had to ask him if it was a typo. How sad is that?

I know what you mean. I had a job applicant come into my old office and her name was J'Karen.

Well...at least it's something new...

But no, I've never been a fan of apostrophes in names.

I love Luna. :) (The character, not the name on a real person)

I too am not a fan of apostrophes in names.
Side note: My sister has always spelled her name (and was taught to spell her name) Tawnya Jo'Lynne. She is 26 now, and just a year or two ago, it was discovered that her birth certificate reads Tawnya Jo-Lynne. Hmmmm.. in this situation, the apostrophe trumps the dash. Well, in ANY situation, the apostrophe trumps the dash! (IMO, of course.)

Yay! I love Luna too (both the character and the name)!

Wow at your sister's name. The dash is actually pretty common phenomenon in names here, and the apostrophe definitely is not, so I still prefer the dash ;). I suppose it also has something to do with the people you grow up with. If there had been only J'dens, D'Nishas and Q'riahs in my class, I suppose it wouldn't strike me as very weird.

I discovered that my birth certificate has my middle name different too. I thought it was so weird, but I can't complain because I was taught to write my middle name with a dash and all along it was just two separate names apparently.

*sigh* If it wasn't for the people in this community, I'd have lost all of my faith in humanity on the naming front by now.

Their surname reminds me a bit of a Finnish word for an asshole. Which poor J'den's parents obviously are for naming their son J'den :(

Does the apostrophe automatically mean the a is missing? Because I look at that name and think J-din, like Jih-den because any number of vowels could be wear the apostrophe is if I wanted them to be.
