So on facebook a friend of mine posted a bulletin about two friends of his having a baby girl.

The baby's name?

Carrion.

I still don't think that excuses it really. I doubt they found it in a name book. So where did it come from. Some people never heard of Chlamydia (my favorite example), does that mean it's alright for someone to name their daughter that? IMO, no.
Besides, a lot of people WILL know the word as well. I don't think I'm particularly special and I know a secret word no one else does! I'd bet money a fair majority (or at least 40%) would have heard of the word before.

And yes, the link says that before the definition because that's the etymology - where the word developed from. A lot of dictionaries do that.
