[identity profile] indicinderelly.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
So I found some notes for an old story I was working on with a bunch of names I was in love with at the time. I wouldn't say they're OMGFantabulous now but I still like them a lot. A couple I made up, by combining two other names, there were also spellings that I loved.

Stevanie (pronounced Steve-Ahnee) (nn "Stevie") - means crown & grace
Ambervia (nn "Via" or "Ammi") - means amber & life
Vienna (nn "Vi" or "Enna") - from wine country (not one I made up)
Alannah (nn "Nahnah") - rock (not one I made up)
Lavinia (nn "Vin/Vinni" or "Nia") - woman from Rome (not one I made up)

And what do you think of:
Alannah Stevanie
Vienna Lavinia
Lavinia Stevanie
Ambervia Grace

Stevanie, even pronounced as you indicate, looks like a misspelling of Stephanie. Stevie to me sounds like a little boy, or like Stevie Wonder.

Ambervia sounds like a medication.

The other names I like.

I believe the spelling Lavinia is the correct way, and it's a name that I've always loved.

I love Vienna (particularly because of the Billy Joel song), although together with Lavinia I think it starts to run together -- they have very similar sounds. I'm not a fan of the others.

I've considered Vienna Aubrey, if that helps.

Vienna is really nice, I like that one. I don't really like the combo Vienna Lavinia though because there's too many V sounds. Ambervia makes me think of the word ambivalent.

I personally dislike 'invented' names.
I don't mind Alannah.

I really like Alannah, but I personally prefer Alana.

The nickname Stevie is really cute (I think of Stevie Nicks) but I'm not very fond of Stevanie.

I'm afraid not. I did some searching online and only came up with the Greek name Stevena (meaning 'crown'), but that actually sounds made up as well (to me at least).
I think most girls who go by Stevie are either just called Stevie, or called Stephanie =).

I hate Stevanie, but my name is Stephanie so I might be biased.
Vienna makes me think sausages.

Ambervia to me sounds awkward, but maybe just to me since I've known a lot of Ambers. Out of the options, I like the 4th the best.
